Road the 2010's last Saturday in Rapid City!
« on: August 05, 2009, 02:29:46 PM »

Had a chance to test ride (some of) the 2010's in Rapid City last weekend:

First Ride - Ultra Glide Limited (103) - nice ride, nice wheels, just another UG with some options ( I ride a SERK3)
Second - CVO Street Glide - Saweet! Would need a taller windscreen - but I like this one!
Third - CVO Softail Convertible - Great bike, digital speedo/tack is trick.  My wife road this one 4 different times!  May cost me some $!
Fourth - Rocker - not for me, couldn't get off this one fast enough.

Could have rode them all, but had other things to do.  I came to the conclusion that I still prefer my 07 SERK ;D.  My wife is ready to trade in her 09 Fat Boy for the Convertible.

That must have been an AWESOME day!  I've got the SESG on order.  You mentioned it needed at taller windshield.  Did you find you were being blasted / buffeted by the wind?  Just curious.  I'm 5'10", and was hoping stock would have been tall enough to eliminate this problem.  Thanks in advance dthies  :2vrolijk_21:

The '10 SESG does not come with a "stock" height windscreen - it is a very short one (I'm guessing 4-5"" at its highest point).  Supposed to make the bike look more "trick"....

The SESG windshield is for looks only - you will need a taller one to eliminate any wind buffeting.  The windshield on the Softail Convertible was taller, but still too short for me.

Stock is 4" I believe.  My Street Glide used came with 10" W/S.  I do not like looking through it so I cut it to 7" which is just right for me.

Doesn't it come with the same windshield as the regular street glide??? I hasd to change mine on my 06 to a few inches taller to stop the wind from going up under the helmet. I suspect I will have the same problem when my SESG comes in....

my 06 Street glide had a 4" wind deflector, changed it out as i found it to be useless.

Just left a 2010 SESG (blue) in the bay getting a taller windshield installed.  Doesn't go with the design of the bike, but will surely cut the wind much better than the abbreviated one.  Let's face it, the Street Glide is not a Ultra and you get compromises in a lot of places for looks over comfort.  Just gotta decide which you want.  8) har!  Spyder

You paid someone to remove the three screws, loosen a couple more and install another windshield? Don't you have at least a buddy who would help if your fingers are broken or missing? Sad....

That's about the dumbest thing I have read lately.
Take a shot at spydglide and wind up looking stupid doing it.

I also test drove the SESG and found it to be awesome. I drive a 2003 SERK. The difference was night and day. The SESG, is like riding a limo, not to mention it felt lighter froom a steering perspective.

Drove the V-Rod for the 1st time. Lots of powe, but did not liek the seat / handlebar position. Would love to see that bike in a road glide frame.

Spyd, you're right, but at 6'4" I had to replace the 4" wind deflector with a 9 1/2" windshield on my 08 Street Glide.  I took that off and put the stock deflector back on before I took it down to the dealer to sell it.  I'll be putting the 9 1/2" on the new SESG regardless of how it looks...I've got to go with function over form in this case... :nixweiss:

I replaced the 4" stock screen with a 6.5" tinted Clearview with recurve.  It keeps most of the slammed look and offers very good protection year round.
