Several special tools needed:  ball of string and masking tape. How technical.

Funny how I don't remember having to do all of that on the many, many bikes I owned in the past that had the rubber biscuits in the rear wheel.  Maybe the MoCo should really consider buying their stuff from somewhere other than China?

Best part of this, I will bet you that the rubber isolators will be considered a wear item and therefore not covered under warranty.

Harley's version of the cush drive.  Something else I'm glad I don't have.

You are correct sir.

Total $92.50

I actually didn't know I needed this. The tech pointed it out & fixed it.

Since I have had my IDS installed the bike can at times feel like it is lunging at not just at low rpm.  It really lunged and jerked at low rpm before so I just thought the IDS had corrected most of the problem.  I like it, my wife even commented on how much smoother the bike felt at lower gears - I can run now at lower rpms in all gears.  I have thought maybe the dealer messed up with the install but how do you mess up a sprocket :nixweiss: with rubber bushings.

Does any one else feel this lunging when you ride?  Maybe I need it replaced after only 200 miles?

That looks seriously nasty.  Any symptoms as it was failing?  I've had mine on for about 5000 miles and haven't noticed anything different from when it was new.

Those pictures are interesting, the spacers shouldn't allow the two pieces to get that close.  I'd like to see a pic of the other side of the pulley portion, wonder if the pressed in bearing wasn't done right or moved in the pulley and allowed it to rub against the standoffs in the mounted portion.

I have mine sitting in the geerage, trying to decide whether to put it on or not......got it cheap on ebay ($68) so it's not a big deal either way......

There were no wear marks on the other side.
This pulley was installed when they 1st came out. Rode about 15K on it. The rear wheel had been removed 3 months ago, it was ok, then last month when the rear tire was replaced, this damage was found.
Service mgr got it replaced under x-tended warranty...

I'm with you! I bought one last year also and never installed it. But after seeing it and hearing of the issues and these things exploding all over the place, no way I'd use it on a modified engine bike. They barely seem to take stock performance! Like many things about the 110, a stock motor with a bigger bore, this stuff ain't designed for +100 HP!!! No thanks!!! JMO!!! ;)

I wouldn't expect to see wear marks on the other side, I was wondering more about where the pressed in bearing was seated at.  It moving is the only way I can see this happening, the spacers are designed to keep the two pieces of the IDS apart, assuming that bearing stays where it's suppose to.  If alignment were even a red pubic hair off it could produce enough side pressure to move the pulley on that bearing, over time.

Well, it was ok for 15K, then in a few weeks this happens?!?!

Perhaps the mech (I use that term lightly) that did the work at 15K didn't get something back together right......nah, nevermind, no way a HD Authorized Mech could do something like that.  :o
