TTS Mastertune Blade Settings????
« on: August 13, 2009, 11:55:13 AM »

I've read a little bit about changing the "blade" settings for the electronic throttle control but I'm wondering what exactly these settings do?  I don't particularly like the throttle response I get with mine (09 SERG) compared to throttle cables but don't really understand what these settings do.  Someone mentioned that their settings were more "aggressive" but I don't know what that means exactly.  Could anyone enlighten me on this?
TIA

The Throttle Blade Control table (in MasterTune) is used to set the throttle blade position relative to the twist grip position.  The stock settings have the throttle blade lagging well behind the twist grip in lower rpm ranges and gradually increasing by percentage into the higher rpm/throttle position ranges.  The value in the cell is the Throttle blade position, and the top line of the table represents the twist grip position  Note that the settings in the red cells match the twist grip position.
I don't know exactly why the stock table is set this way, but I suspect it has something to do with trying to help the less skilled riders and manage liability for the MOCO.
Some riders (myself included) have set the blade position to match the relative throttle position across the board.  The result is no lag and improved throttle response.
The MasterTune manual recommends against "changing these values unless you are very comfortable with the calibration and the way the engine runs prior to adjusting this table."  (Quote is from the Tuning Item Comments in the Throttle Blade Control table.)

Thank you.  Now I know what they mean and how they affect the throttle.  I imagine I'll try to set mine closer to the actual throttle position and see how I like that.

If you increase the values you also increase the sensitivity of the twist grip in low speed conditions. This can initially be unsettling as the throttle will now respond to unintentional movements caused by irregularities in the roadway.

On the TTS I have mine set to 1 for 1 no variation and no percentage of throttle.   It now acts like every other bike I have with cables.  I twist it goes.   Hated the lag, and happy it is gone.

Picture looks horrible in the smaller form on my screen.  If you are interested in seeing the values in place please double click the picture to see the values better.
