A look back at the valley that we'd just spent the last two hours riding across.

Looks great, ride safe and keep the pictures coming.  I've never been there, So I really appreciate you sharing your experience.

There's a story behind this picture.

We were stopped on the side of the road where the Indians sell their crafts.  An older couple comes walking up and he tells us that he had to sell his Heritage due to his bad legs, etc. etc.

Terrie asks if one of them would take a picture of us.  She says "oh......he'll do it......but you never know what you're going to get with him taking it."  He takes the camera and backs up as she goes on to tell us that he loves photograph and he's a clown.  He kind of squats down...as she continues to talk about him.  He then kind of kneels down.  Then he's kind of laying on his stomach......then he spins around and laying on his back he says "gotta get the top of the peak in the shot".

He did get a good shot......kind of different to say the least.

I quickly bent over to take the camera from him as Terrie and his wife help him up.   All this while 20-30 tourists stand around and watch.   I think you would have had to been there.

More red rock as we're on our way to Monument Valley.

A change in color as we come upon Black Mesa.  Black Mesa is full of coal and they actually mine it and haul it out of there on an electric train.

Kayenta, Az.  where the cows, goats and dogs have free reign....

You can see by the signs, this is an intersection of two highways.  We stopped here to eat.  Terrie and I were the only two white people in the place......all Indians.  Some of the older ones were talking in their native language....very interesting. 

We watched the cows for half an hour or so.....wonder back and forth across the highway at will....

Soon the road leads us to Monument Valley....

and another incredable ride....

another one of those places that you have to visit at least once in your life....

Very odd how these rock formations just stick right up out of the ground.

and the skys are all cloudy all day.

Up behind this lodge is where the John Wayne cabin is at......they used in one of his movies.

[JCZ]

Looks fake.....but it's the real deal.
