the FLHR is the beauty among the touring bikes - but you already have one beauty in the inventory, your Springer.

I loved my last FLHRCI, but after amending this and that it cost over 12.000 Eur more than my actual FLHTCUSE4 (heavily upgraded too) - and still was a compromise.

If you intend to really put on miles on your touring-bike go with an E-Glide with as few engine-mods as possible. The Limited should be a good heavy-duty-bike. Take it and leave the engine as it is (except of A/C, exhaust and mapping of course).

After you've done some miles on the new frame, you won't consider any tourer before 09 any longer for extended traveling. And I would get rid of any 08-tourer anyway asap  ;)

Definitely new frame. Maybe there's a leftover 2009 CVO Ultra still floating around that a dealer is looking to move. It might be worth looking into.

Cycle City in Honolulu has an Orange/Silver 08 Ultra and a Silver/Black 09 on the floor... across the aisle is a 2009 SERG in Silver/Titanium

If you want a batwing fairing and don't want to spend the extra money for the CVO, get the Limited. The new frame/engine mounting system is worth the investment. It's a great bike that is well equipped and we all know that a well sorted 103 can generate plenty of power :2vrolijk_21:

Thanks, everyone!  I really, really do love the SERK, but definitely want a little more touring capability.  I like the idea of an '09 CVO Ultra, but I've checked with local dealers and no luck.  I'm going to visit my dealer to talk about the Limited anyway, so I may have them do a search for an '09 SEUG as well...   I'll let you know what happens!

In my opinion all this hoopla about the frame is just that, hoopla. Nothing ear shattering here. Harley just made it cheaper to make, laid off a few more guys in the process (welders) put out all kinds of crap about amazing new frame... I have had both, frame should not be a selling point, nothing special going on here. Now the newer engine mounting system is better than the older one and some other stuff such as 6 spd but these have been around a few years. Frame itself, advertising hype.

The reduced production cost is likely the primary reason the MoCo made the change, however it has turned out to be a win/win situation. With the new frame we enjoy the benefits of an improved front motor mount system as well as a significantly more robust rear swingarm. The increased frame stiffness improves ride quality and has eliminated the right hand sweeper wobble so common in earlier versions. I feel no need to add a frame stabilizer to the new bike.

You have to make your own decision, but it appears the consensus of the group is to get the Ultra.

If I were in your position, I would trade the SERK for a new, or slightly used 09 CVO Ultra.

That's my story.........and I'm stickin to it !!!

Yup,  I also would make the move to the new frame and 103,............later on,  if you really wanted to,  you could have the cases bored out and move up to a 110 or 113 if ya wanted to. :nixweiss:

Here is your answer it is all in the motor:

103 very dependable, proven and still the motor used for police bike thats says alot.

110 not much more power (I have been on both and own a 04 FLHTCSE), leaks, hot and has alot of folk mad at the moco.  Not to mention the only Harley motor that owners have used the lemon law.

This should spread some light get the Limited it will be a fine bike

TRAITOR!!   :P

2nd that

I flirted with the idea of the SESG or last years CVO Ultra but was able to not drink from the cup.

I'm not sure you'll get more touring capacity with an Ultra Limited over a SERK with the same luggage. However the limited is already set up for what your looking for.

I like staying with the SERK as, IMHO, I can have the best of both world - except for that damn radio. You really can not make a wrong decision on this one either way. Neal's had a lot of saddle time on a SERK so if he's endorsing the Limited....
