I forgot to tel you that the 4 hours were only for download the SERT.......thieves, right? In my previous SE I installed the pipes and the SE air cleaner myself.......I will do the same this time.....I am thinking to use th true duals from V&H and the SE pipes 65115-99B (the same model the file that you got when you made the CERT) but I am afraid that they will be so quiet, I like medium loudly as the V&H oval level of noise....BTW do you know how they sound or if the baffles are removable?

Haven't removed the baffles, not sure I want to, might just leave em out.  They are removeable though.

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to wait, not sure you'd "need" to though, some folks do it before taking delivery.

They said that the reason is because they hay to put the bike in a Dyno in higher rev.....

Yeah if your having it Dyno'd then waiting would be a good idea.  Their 4hr price must have included the Dyno time also, building a custom map instead of just loading the canned map.  That varies, some are more, some are less, depends on how good the Dyno guy is.  You can do the pipes, air kit and SERT, load the canned map that comes with the SERT for break-in, then have it Dyno'd after break-in is over.....just a thought.

Alright now, you ain't gonna blame me for all this stuff later are ya???  [smiley=nervous.gif]

Yeah I have the 6sp, I didn't do it myself though, had the dealer add it before delivery.  Don't think I'll ever own another motorcycle without it again, absolutely love it.  When traveling I'm on the highway a good bit, 6th gear makes it nice.

You can get the pipes from Eastern Performance (probably the link you talked about) and the rest of the stuff from https://www.zanottimotor.com/shopping/partLookUp.html and save a bunch. Just follow the directions with the V&H True Duals and all will turn out well, be sure to put the clamps on exactly how they say, works out better that way.  I just don't see payin a dealer to do fairly simple tasks, when I could be spending the time getting intimate with her myself.

Mike

Thxs Train,  yes it was the Eastern site I was speaking of for the pipes and the Zanottimotor.com is now added to my favorites list.  It kinda burned my butt a bit when I asked my dealership if they could do all this, (pipes-ovals-SE tuner-breather- and mapping) as a package deal and discount it a little since I had just spent a large sum of money buying the bike.  The quick and simple answer I got was "no,  we do not have package deals".
As you said,  nothing wrong with being intimate   ;)

What about this comments I found in the net ?????

Any comments ??? Thank you !!

I waited four months to get this bike and when I drove it away from the dealership I knew I made a mistake. The 103 stroker does not perform as good as my 03 Ultra Classic with 88-incher. First of all the exhaust system is much too quiet, it does not sound the way a Harley should. I learned that it has catalyst in the mufflers and it detuned from the factory for environmental purposes.
Two days after getting the new Ultra I traveled to the Smokey Mountains for a 7 day trip. 1000 mile service was preformed in Knoxville, TN. There, the stock mufflers were replaced with a set of Vance and Hines ovals. It helped the power situation a little bit but still needs a high flow air cleaner and the download which were not available yet, so no remap with the new pipes. During the 1000 mile service the wrench informed me that my front lower motor mount was broke and the one he reinstalled would probably not last another 1000 miles. Related that there was a bad manufacture batch of the mounts for the 2006 models and they have not got the new ones yet. He said he has replaced 15 or 20 of them so far. He was right, 1200 miles later this mount is gone also. For all you guys out there with 2006 Ultra Classics and Screamin' Eagle Ultra Classics the first sign of motor mount trouble is a slight vibration in the handle bars and floor boards. It grows increasingly worse as the mount rubber separates.

Bottom line - you need to spend more money on pipes, a high flow air cleaner and race tuner to get this bike to run and perform as it was supposed to.

I rode my '06 bone stock (pipes and air) for nearly 6500 miles, no problems.  Pulled like a FR8TRN (pun intended) thru the mountains, 2-up with fully loaded bags and tourpak, at triple digit speeds.  The power was way more than my '04 Ultra had with the pipes, air kit, download and PCIII.  Mine was one of the firsts in the dealerships, if the motor mount were an issue I'd probably have it, and the way I ride, it would of broke, I'm not easy on this thing by any stretch of the imagination.

Now with the pipes, air kit and Race Tuner added, it's a completely different bike.  HD has to meet EPA requirements in order to sell motorcycles, if the guy doesn't like that then he should eliminate the EPA, good luck there....It takes very little to open up the detuning and get the motors back up to where they should be.  I'm over 7000 miles from riding it off the dealers lot, and I have never been happier with a motorcycle.

Here is a little story for ya Freebiker.

Bout 2 weeks after picking up my bike my wife and I took a 4 day trip into West Virginia (sig pic below is from during this trip).  We were heading towards our first hotel for the weekend and were on some sweet little twisty road, lots of board dragging going on....we like it like that.  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  As we pass a little backroad a guy on a regular Ultra pulls out behind us, he's doing good as we ride, staying pretty much right behind me as the boards drag around the corners.  The road starts to get steep, the steeper it gets, the farther he falls behind.  Near the top of the mountain there was a nice little overlook, so we stopped.  About 3 minutes later he pulls in, said he was doing everything he could to keep up and couldn't, wanted to know what I'd done to the bike.  Explained it was bone stock as he realized it was the '06 Screamin Eagle Ultra I was riding.  Turns out, he was from the area, knew the roads, rides em all the time, but couldn't keep up, his bike had pipes, an air kit added and I think he said the PCIII.  Mine was stock, fully loaded and 2-up.  The road was too tight to be using any high gear, we stayed in 2nd and 3rd pretty much the whole way up, so it was all torque that pulled us away from him.

Funny how everybody's always knocking the 103 with comments like it is such a dog, and a good 95 will blow it away.  They never talk about the mods they've made to keep their 88 or 95 from being such a dog.  Bring a stock motor to the table and run a stock 103 and see who wins.

im with you guys, i cant believe how some guys are dissin this stock motor, i also feel this motors pulls great straight out of the box. all i have to do is think back to my stock 96 heritage softail and im smiling ear to ear.
riding 2-up on that slug, i was running WFO just to keep up with mopeds  [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  i am quite satisfied with the preformance of this motor, and after a couple of near death experiences on my stage3 v-max in my young and foolish days, i have got all that "need for speed" chit out of my system. now its "drive to stay alive" is my motto, and this baby has all i need.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Have come to realize that part of the dissatisfaction that comes from some of the riders on SE 103s is that they haven't learned how to ride them.  Other than just highway cruising, and especially in the kind of riding that Train described, I'm always a gear lower on this bike than any 88 I was ever on (no matter how well tuned it is).  That's just where the torque band is.  These motors just don't lug too low too well.  It seems silly to tell someone that they've got to downshift occasionally to make the motor happy.  Their ears should tell them that.  But, I guess, not always...  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

yup, and if your ears cant tell you your lugging the motor your eyes certainly should.
i am always glancing down at the tac to see if im where i should be, especially on a new
unfamiliar bike. good observation twolaner  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]
