Pumped UP !
« on: August 28, 2009, 03:02:22 PM »

So I just ordered the Works rear shocks for my 2007 Screaming Eagle road King, with the hand-adjustable knob ... based on all the write-ups you all provided.   Of course custom built to my riding, weight, etc.  Cant wait.   :orange:

I'll keep you posted on how they work.  I went soft and supple (touring).  Im only 170 but the ride needed improvement.  I forget the guys name, but he was really helpful.   recommend it.

my last mod, the front forks.  But those are really pricey so necxt year and then she will be complete.

Sweet.  new rear, custom built shocks ...

I just installed the 13" Works Black Billet Tracker w/ARS on my SERG3.  Significant improvement over both my previous 12" Progressive 440s w/HD springs and 13"Progressive 440s with standard rate springs. Ride height is close to the same as the 12" shocks due to the correct 1"-1.5" sag pre-load adjustment of the Works shocks. The Progressives did not sag at all under pre-load without ALOT of weight. So far the Works are the best that I have used. More to follow after I get some more miles on them.

Great to hear.  Mine should be here in two weeks. I also got the ARS.  Is it user friendlly?   Do you use it and when ?  I think its a knob correct ?

I figured it will come with instructions but these forums are always better.  "real world" advise.
Thanks

I've had Works shocks on now since the beginning of May. I am still very satisfied with them.

The BARS system is a large collar at the top of the shock with 4 steps cut in. You move the collar (or the tab) to the step you wish to use depending on solo, two up, or OMG she can't take anymore. See pic below and this post http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=36455.0

Works shocks use two linear rate springs: a short spring with a soft linear (straight) rate and a longer second spring with a stiff linear (straight) rate. As both springs compress they result in a soft, or initial rate. The spring set will retain this initial rate until the short spring stops compressing. At that point, the spring rate "crosses over", (transitions), to the stiffer, or final, rate. On Works Performance shocks, this "crossover" point is set by means of an ARS lever that allows the rider to select the crossover point. Very simple (user friendly) to change the setting. I am very happy with these shocks.
