OK, so armed with this new knowledge, I made sure that the EITMS was activated last week.  Yesterday, I rode into the city - a very pleasant day in the low 70's - but ran into some stop & go for about 20 minutes.  By the time I pulled into the parking garage, the thing was popping & spitting, and trying to stall. I had to keep revving the engine to keep it going, so I thought that I had some serious problems.   When I hopped back on the bike 4 hours later, it was OK again - except for the valve chatter that is driving me nuts.   Talked to the dealer, and they feel that it was the heat management system doing its job.  I have to admit, that I didn't know what to expect with the bike running on one cylinder, but I thought it would be a lot smoother than what I experienced.  Should the difference be so "night and day" such as what I experienced, or do you think that there is something else going on?

Thanks,

Ed

Yeah, hate to say it but it sounds like it is working properly.
It's only happened to me once since my tune, but if she heats up to a point it's going to want to stall after pinging quite a bit.

The outside (ambient) temperature won't matter if your stuck in traffic and the bike heats up.
Once again, this is something we bought into.

Rode in a Labor Day parade, (95 degrees), yes, when the EITMS kicks in bike feels like it is coming apart.  One thing they recommend is to not rev the enging, rev the eengine only makes it worse.  Or at least that's what HD says.

I looked, where did I say A/C pipe?  A/C = Air Cleaner

Add a SERT,Change Fluids,Open up your Intake and Exaust,Re-Tune and have that EITMS de-activated. You wont need it once you fatten up your bike with Fuel and Air.

just a thought... try to find some fuel without the ethanol additive,,, it helps some in heat and performance,,, same goes for your car and small engines

The gas companies don't have to tell you if the have 10% or less (although most do).  Federal Regulation as I understand nit.

Heat?

Yeah, it's a problem so I removed my lowers this summer and, wa, la, the engine runs much cooler and my legs feel much cooler with the increased air flow.  And I save the paint on the lowers from rock chips during the hot, high mileage, touring season.

When the ambient temp, cools, I put the lowers back on when I want the heat for creature comfort.

Without lowers and with the tour pak detached, the bike looks bitchin'.  09 FLHTCUSE4, silver and blue.

Try it, you'll like it.

Yes I replaced my worthless air temp gauge with an oil temp gauge. I consider it more useful.

Pretty simple job couple 3 hours and your done, you'll even get an oil change.
Went to parts counter and asked about swapping mine. They and new catalog (Page 451) say will not
fit on FLHTCUSE4/5 ..... that is not good! Anybody find something that works?

Go to a different counter, they work or mine wouldn't be there.

DICKW,

I also noted that "will not fit" statement on pg 451.  I believe you!  Was there any mods that were needed to make it functional?  What are your cruising temps?  I'm taking delivery on a FLHXSE and am getting rid of the CATS and seriously thinking of adding FULLSAC cores and TTS tuner in hopes of cooler temps and better performance.  THANKS!
