« on: September 09, 2009, 07:31:48 AM »

Hello All:

Any experience with the following kit?

Looking to make it a little easier for my wife to get on/off w/o sacrificing ride/comfort on my SE4.

Thanks, UT

Yup, bought one.  They told me it would fit an 09, and it doesn't - you definitely need to space the bags out, and the spacers in the kit are no good for that, as the 09 and later models use different bracketry.

They also fail completely to respond to emails, and while their product is very well made, it's very pricey for what it is, and their customer service (in respect of responding to emails that is) sux.

I went for the Street Glide lower shox.

Here's the text of the email I sent them on 29th June.

"Well, I bought the kit, but it doesn't work with 2009 models, Kristy.

The problem is that the saddlebags DO need spaced out as they are hard against the shock.  The method of spacing them out that you provide is no good for 2009 models though, as the rear mount is fixed on the bag support rail now, not bolted to the frame as on pre-2009 models. Therefore there is no place to install your spacer.

In order to fix the problem so the kit will fit 2009+ models, you need to develop a new method to space the bags out on the rear mount.  There is a hole on it that you could bolt a ramp-shape plate on to, and on the ramp shaped plate, the clip could be remounted, moving the bag out by a quarter inch.

Meanwhile though - best advise 2009 owners, it's a no- go.  It's a real shame, because the quality of the kit is great, and I thought my problem was solved..... :-("

I got no response to that email, or to two previous ones, and I see they've updated the site to say it does fit 09 models (but not 08 for some reason??) The pic shows the kit is unchanged, so I can tell you for sure that if it really is unchanged, it will lower your shox OK, but you won't get your bags back on.  :-\

WoW! I too was suspicious about their disclaimer, and would have experienced the same disappointment. You saved me the frustration and headache on the customer service front and the bucks as well. Thanks for the feedback. Guess I'll keep looking...

Thanks, UT
