dont know the signale streng of those littel bluetooth devices but maybe the radio would intefere if it was in the faring?

If so that would certainly be a justification for hanging the little thing all the way back in the tour pak.  Just realized I don't have a clue what freq's or modulation or anything else that Bluetooth transmits over though  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

My take on cell phone use and riding my scooter

"I make my living being on the phone way to much, damned if I am going to be riding and still be on the phone"

I get on my scooter to get away for all the stress in life and I really don't need to be talking on cell phone cruising down the highway. Yeah I may have the cell phone in my pocket but don't need to be on it.

Different strokes for different folks and I understand the ones that want constant access to reality.

Amen Jeff.  It's not a piece I want.  I'm just warped enough to always wonder IF I could have it even if I don't want it though.

Well I kinda knew this would come up, it always does, so here is my take on it.  I often ride my bike during/for work, having access via cell is an assett, alot easier than stopping every 15 minutes for a call.  I get on the bike to escape also, and "deny" is an option when a call comes in, so is turning off the bluetooth on my cell phone, so weekend rides I'm disconnected, if I need to be, during work I'm reachable, if I need to be.  It's also available for my wife to talk on while we are traveling, yeah it works for the pillion also, so she can take calls from the kids and .....etc.  I fully understand the danger in using the phone while riding and keep the calls to a minimum or if it needs to be lengthy I pull over, also if I'm in a situation where I don't feel comfortable answering the phone, I don't, it's that simple.

Jeffj, I am with you on this one.  I enjoy my ride too much to be bothered with answering a phone.  Just give me my tunes and I'm happy.  8-)

Actually, upon further review; there is one time I'd probably do it.  If there was a good bluetooth helmet integrated in to the system as well.  So it could all work without cords.  Then it'd be almost too convenient not to have just for the rare occasion it might be handy when that occason was compounded by all the other audio being wireless in the helmet.

Am I missing something here?  Why can you not just MATCH the Bluetooth phone to the sound system (Mic/earphone/speaker) and leave the phone on your belt clip.  What is the wire routing all about?  If it is hard wired from the tour pac to the system what Bluetooth functionality is occurring here? Aha.

Agree with Jeff, Mistered, and Hubbard. IMHO I think we're already getting too many extra gadgets on these costly machines. Instrumentation is vital, and I do think a GPS and Radar Detector are great supplements, and in some locales a necessity, but they are definitely distractors. Stereos, CB radios, cell phones, etc. while a convenience, are great also distractions.I remember thinking electric starters were a convenience way back when, but I adapted to technology there. Maybe I'm dating myself on that one

Hello, I'm just finishing up the install of the bluetooth, the HID headlight, XM radio, and the pager II alarm, I am by no means a ace mechanic, but using the enclosed instructions and a service manual, it has taken me about 8 hours to do all this to my 06 FireFighter Ultra. By the way the bluetooth does not require fuel tank removal, the wiring goes under dash/intercom panel over top of tank.

I am convinced.  This is nuts.  I thought the Bluetooth was embedded into the system.  Aha.  To add a wired interface is crazy.  Not ready for PRIME TIME.  How do you explain this to someone.  So I join Jeff in his position.

That was my thought too Bubba.  No need for the different dash to have to be changed out because there'd be no more helmet plug either.  Just all passed through the bluetooth transceiver.
