CVO Resale Value
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:18:23 PM »

I was fooling around today with "what ifs, and said what is my CVO worth compared to an Ultra.
I checked the going asking price of 06 Ultras, compared to CVO's. I only looked at 2-tone
Ultra's with similar mileage. It seems Ultra's with no real add ons are selling for $14/15k.
The 06 CVO's are anywhere between $20/21K. Now with the list price of on 06 2-tone
Ultra at $21k, and the CVO at $32K, I'm thinking an Ultra is a much better return on investment.
What's your thoughts?

If you check on Ebay I think you'll find that $20/21K for a 2006 CVO Ultra is on the very low end of pricing with most in the $23/24K range. And don't forget the guy selling a stock 2006 Ultra has more than likely invested a whole lot more in upgrades above the stock base pice than  the CVO Owner invested in his bike.

In the end, I think you're still getting a much better return on the CVO bike investment with the possible exception of the rare guy that never spent a dime upgrading his stock Ultra.

I agree with Tazmun.. The regular production Ultra Classic offers a much better potential return on one's dollar as long as high mileage isn't a factor.
Looking back now, I probably would have been just as happy if not more with the non-cvo Ultra, not to mention the "extra" money I would have saved.

You guys are out of control, the CVO will provide the rider with more options and get a better return.

I just traded my 06 CVO in on an 09 CVO and I got 23k and it had 50,000 miles on it. Try that with an standard Ultra and get back to me.

Dick,
When did you trade yours in?? I'm talking todays value, not a year ago!
I've heard dealers are offering in the range of $18/19k on trade in's on 10's,
and $12/13 for Ultra's. Even if people do the normal add on's to Ultra's,
they seem to get a better return, dollar for dollar.

Well if there giving that kind of trade in where you live, I'll
come out there to trade!
Seriously, dealers don't want to pay that much here, they
know they are going to sit on them till spring. My dealer has
an 06 sitting on the floor, since last spring with no bites.

In general I guess I can understand, my dealership knew what I wanted and called me up on the phone and offered it to me. Strange as it sounds, that's what happened.

My bike sat there for 2 weeks and they got 26k for it out the door ( that is including tax and all the other crap). The person that bought it knew me, and knew how my bikes are maintained.

I think ther could be credibility to this Thread, but in the big picture when you put chrome and other add ons to the standard which I don't care who you are ....you will.

The thread for me becomes less credible.

I guess it pays to shop around for the best price...

I was told 13.5 for mine (04 SEEG) on a Burnt Amber... :nixweiss:

Not sure where I'm going just yet, we'll see, eh?

I lucked out. I traded my 04 B/B SEEG with 18,000 miles on an 2010 ULTRA Limited at MSRP $ Canadian, they gave me CDN $20,500 I had to pay approx. CDN $11,000 difference out the door. They sold the 2004 SEEG a day later for CDN $23,000. The economy in Alberta is still not to bad, we are in a bit of a rebound. However some of the HD Dealers are down over 40% from previous years.

See that, as I stated all depends on who you deal with.

I tryed to deal on an amber ultra and they would not budge from list.  I too was only offered $13,500 on my PERFECT CONDITION 04 SEEG with 16k miles on it.  VERY DISAPPOINTING

KBB has it listed at $15.8. Dealers in your area may be having a hard time moving used inventory.
