Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. Two good things happened this week: We got married, and I got a JOB! After 7 months of looking, sending resumes, and drawing my pennies, I got hired by AT&T for an inside sales position with a base plus commission and bonuses. 8-5 Mon-Fri, with benefits like VACATION TIME. I'll be doing Internet Sales to small and medium sized businesses throughout the states of Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and parts of Florida. No traveling involved, just all phone work. In today's market, I feel fortunate to get the position with such a stable and growing division within AT&T. Out of hundreds of applicants, I was one of 9 chosen for the positions they had available due to expansion of the department.
That was topped only by Suzanne and me getting married at the Shelby County Courthouse yesterday. Suzanne has posted a pic in her original post. Our intentions were to go there to get the license and then go somewhere today and do a simple ceremony because the Justice of the Peace was supposed to be tied up in court all day long. But, when we got there, she had gotten out of court early, so was able to perform the ceremony in a small Gazebo just outside the Courthouse. I was not dressed for the occasion, as you can see, but that doesn't matter to either of us. It must have been meant to happen though, because I had a doctor's appointment earlier in the day, and had thrown my camera and tripod in the car to shoot some photos after the appointment. Took a few photos, then came home to pick up Suzanne and go get the license, so was able to set the tripod up and snap a few timed photos of us after the ceremony was complete. Not great pics, but good enough to capture the moment. Suzanne is a fine woman...she takes good care of me, loves being a BSR, and I look forward to spending the rest of my life with her. I love her dearly, and after over 3 1/2 years of being together, it was time for us to make the permanent commitment to each other. We are both VERY happy!!
I have 4 weeks of training starting Monday, so the honeymoon will have to be postponed until sometime in late October when we will likely go up to the Smokies for the fall color and two or three days of fun, which we both need after these past few months of job searching and living by the skin of our teeth. Hopefully, this will be the start of our full financial recovery and we will be able to ride more and visit some of the great friends we have on this site.
