I changed the front and rear  Dunlops on my '09 SERG @ 10000 miles.  Put the new Avon Cobra's on and have about 2500 miles on them so far-no cupping, good ride, low noise-so far so good.
I changed the 407 for a 408 on my gf's Streetglide at the same time and it is okay too.
More miles will tell.  Mostly went to the Avon's on the SERG cause I hate having the gun to my head when I buy something (being the Dunlops are available only through HD)

I've got an Avon on the front of my SG. Got it from Drag Specialties, through the local HD dealer.

After reading all this thread I think I have reason to be pissed at my dealer.

On my FXDSE2 I wore the first set (Front & rear) out at about 6500 miles. They were worn evenly with the rear cupped slightly and were down to 2/32" of an inch when they recommended I should replace them. They told me "Thats about all you get mileage-wise nowadays" I replaced them at my expense with another set of Dunlops then subsequently totaled the bike 300 miles later.

On the replacement bike (identical) I replaced the Dunlops at 8000 miles (with Metzlers) with serious cupping starting on the rear and about 2/32"  left on the front.   All this on a Dyna that is about 200lbs less than a Bagger????

I dont do burnouts and the roads are mostly blacktop/concrete.

Sounds like I need to ask for warranty on the tires I have went through???

What do you think???

Glad I have an 08, I have 24K miles on my front tire and have yet to change it!  And, no, it's not bald!

I have an 01 SERG, 03 Classic, 05 SEEG and a 09 SEUC.  (and note, the 03 has Traxxion and Progressives)
The 01, 03 and 05 all get twice the mileage on the front tire as my 09.
But if I could get my 01, 03 and 05 to handle anywhere close to as good as my 09 I would accept 50% less tire mileage from those three in a New York minute.
IMHO.

My first D407 was replaced at about 6300 miles .
The second (a D408) was replaced at about 8200miles.
Then the cupping was mentionable , means i felt that something started to change with the tire-noise while riding , so they were changed .

Does anyone take issue with the fact that the 407 and 408 are the same tire with the treads running in opposite directions?  It looks to me that the 408F would channel water TOWARD the center of the tire and not AWAY from center making wet weather riding dangerous  :confused5:
