I have 6100 on my 408, and I'm happy with the tread and the handling.  :2vrolijk_21:

Yes, this an issue HD needs to address.  Way too many issues and most customers buy into the low tire pressure and pay for a new one.  Could explain why they are so hard to find.

Mine is "on it's way".

We shall see.

 :soapbox: :soapbox:

The mileage is acceptable as mine should last that long except for the cupping.

And the bike does handle better.  Combo of new frame, longer wheelbase, better (or stickier) tires and more confidence in the brakes (to get you out of trouble).

I traded in my '06 SE Ultra with 46k miles for a new '09 Ultra in June of this year (did not know of the '10 Ultra Limited at that time). The first 11k miles the front tire looked great, but the last 600 it has cupped badly (like the pic at the start of this thread), maybe 1k left if lucky.

My dealer at my request today called the MoCo for replacement, the dealer was told not to sell any front 407's and return them to MoCo. The dealer does not have any 408's but first one in they will replace my front for no charge, dealer was told in a few days the MoCo will issue a document on replacing the front 407's, this will not be the TT400 dated Jan 29, 2009 but a new one!

Well, it's good HD is finally doing this.  Plus, it's not even their tire but from Dunlop.  Course it might as wel be as there is no substitute from any other manufacturer.

Replaced my 07 oem front tire at 32K and still had not hit the wear bar. Back oem usually replaced at 10K. Just replaced a rear E3 which was completely bald at 7K, back to the oem now

Dealer in Roswell N.M. replaced my front D407 today.  Excessive cupping at 12,500 miles.  Slow speed wobble and loud noise coming from front at 70-80 MPH. Dealer called MoCo.  MoCo said replace with D408 for "free" as it was a known issue.  Dealer only had a D407 in stock, so that was installed.  Dealer said to watch for cupping again and have my local dealer replace with a D408 when I get back to Florida.  Being on the road, I was impressed with Roswell, Champion Motor Sports, treatment.  Two other dealers, Farmington and Santa Fe were not aware of any issues nor did they check.  Rear tire wearing evenly and still have excellent tread.

Some dealers are better than others.

Got the front 407 replaced last Friday with a 408. Can't hardly believe how smooth the bike handles now.  Most of the noise is gone,  there is still a slight roar from the rear when taking a curve.  Kinda like a mud tire on a 4 wheel drive roaring, but not quiet to that extreme. You get the picture.  Anway at 11990 Dixie Harley replaced my front tire and I am very please with their service and attention to my problem.  I guess all the noise or roar that I was hearing I thought was coming from my front tire.  But now the noise level is much quieter, but now I hear the roar from the back tire.  Never could hear it before because of the noise from the front.  I have noticed that I have lots of tread left on the rear, but now I am going to look more closely to see if there is any cupping going on with that tire.  Running down the interstate is now very quiet and smooth,  I didn't realize how bad the bike really was untill I had the front tire replaced.  Going to look more closely now at the back since it does roar when taking curves.

I replaced my front at 10,000 - not because of cupping, but because of wear.  The replacement was my cost.

The rear has 12,000 miles on it and still looks fine.  Probably will get 15-16,000 out of it!

Replaced both of mine on my 09 SEUC at 13000, could have gotten a little more out of the rear, maybe, the front was shot, cupped really bad, the dealer, Superstition Harley in Apache Junction Az replaced the front because of the cupping, said they have been seeing lots of it on these new tires.

While HD is running the program, no doubt Dunlop is footing the bill.

Got stuck in MS on a road trip... Tire was cupping badly @ 6000...  Dealer called harley and they told them to pound sand....  I called harley and they told me to do worse...

Damm dealer put on a D407,  which I guess has problems.... The next dealer we stopped @ said to get a D408....

How the hell do I get harley to pay for this crap tire that is shot @ 6000!  The rear is perfect!!

I replaced mine o nm y'08 FLHX at about 9200 miles. But that was to upgrade the wheel to a 18" PM aluminum. The stock tire still was in great shape, got lots of life left in it. I suspect I could get 17-18k out of it.
