Should I gamble on an 07 SEUC?
« on: December 12, 2005, 01:54:06 PM »

This may seem a bit early to those of you lucky dogs that already have your 06 SEUCs, or to those who will be taking delivery soon, but mine is not expected to be delivered until May, or even June!

So, I started thinking that maybe I could hold out a few more months and possibly pick up an 07 SEUC.  Perhaps they may come with the 6-spd.  I would probably have a pretty good chance at getting the first one from my dealer.

The gamble is, will HD make an 07 SEUC, and will it have any significant updgrades (IE: 6-spd.  oooh! oooh! oooh! maybe we'll get Air bags! ;) now ABS would be good).

Some other drawbacks (aside from not getting a bike), I may miss out on the Haze which I really like and I will also miss out on the CVO Rally in June.

So, any thoughts based on previous HD patterns?  Do you guys think there will be an 07 SEUC, and will it come with a 6-spd and ABS?  and air bags?  hehe

An 07 SEUC, Yes, if they follow suite and produce each model for two years. I think this is very likely. As far as the other upgrades it would not suprise me to see a six speed. I doubt they'll do ABS

Just guessing here:  bored at work.  They usually do a two year run, so it's a good guess that 07 SE Ultras will be available. Can't really see that they would make many changes, esp a 6 speed, or the price would have to go up. Be nice if they would just fix the problems they;ve had so far. LOL But maybe the EPA will require more and the sixer will help. Honestly, I'm in the same boat as you. Put my money down with an anticipated November delivery. They finally confirmed a Dec 5 date, now it's changed to next Feb! If it gets delayed anymore, I might also consider an 07. Kinda starting to get PO'd. Other area dealers are getting their bikes.  Bummer  >:(

I suppose it's anybody's guess at this point, but while you can pretty much rest assured there will be another year of the SEUC, with the way the Electra Glide CVO's have been selling, I wouldn't look for any major upgrades in '07.

You can also come to The Gatherings (Maggie Valley or Cripple Creek) on any bike.  Even a Honda.  Ask Neal's brother.  We didn't even pick on him (too much).

in 04 we speculated about a six speed for 05
in 05 we speculated about a six speed for 06

each time we we're disapointed.... if you hold out just because of a sixer...... which you could add to an 06 in the color you like

I believe that the 2 year runs will continue, and that the only major change will be color choices.  As for the gatherings, come on out!

The rule is they change CVO models every two years.......but I would go with 06 (other color) and install 6-speed....if you are interested my dealer where I purchased my autum/hazw (deliver at the end of the year) has available one in black/crimson scheduled for March atg MSRP.......

I am not hung up on the 6-spd, I just figured I'd throw this out.  Since they put the 6-spd on the whole dyna family, I figured there may be a better shot at them adding it to the Touring.

Unfortunately, I am more of a PUB than a RUB.  I held out until I could get a CVO, so aside from the general "Harley Tax" items, I am not going to add too much.  However, I did order the Garmin 2730!  The kids don't need to go to college, right?    ;)

2007 FLHTCUSE2 - yeah I think there will be one
My guess the 6 speed transmission will be on it or I think a Jims 120 but it will be a HD motor.

If you look at last couple of years you will notice MoCo re-did "New Look" the Sportster in 05, the Dyna 06
So for 2007 it will be either the Softail or the Touring Model

My take it will be the softail with the "new look" as for CVO a new Softail will be needed (2nd year of SEFB).

I am lucky as I always have 1st or 2nd dibs (if dealer keeps 1st)

You might consider the 06 versus 07 question from a slightly different perspective.  Things like transmissions or other mechanical attributes can be added much less expensively than a full paint set.  And a big reason for the emotional attachment that is part of these machines is the look and feel.  That comes in significant amount from our first impression when we see it.

If that description fits you than it might be that you get the one you know you just go ga ga over the looks of.  Anything else can be bolted on far more cheaply.

If any particular paint scheme is a secondary issue to mechanical attributes than wait and see what differences the 07 brings.  The 05 SEEGS added a tour pak and a few other smaller trinkets over the 04s.  The other models have seen some small amount of variation as well.

One thing that might allay your concern either way is that the production delay may backload some deliveries.  So one might not be surprised if by the time 07 information is released there would still be some 06s to choose from that were late in the production year.  Might be able to view your cake and pick which one you wish to eat.
