Here are some very quickly taken pictures of the Rat Run from today. Sorry I only had my cell phone to take them, forgot the digital camera, go figure.
Some years there are over 3,000 bikes show up at the Rat Run, but I think it may have been down a bit this year. One item that doesn't show up on the pictures is that the main drag, St. Charles Rock Rd right in front of the event place has industrial places with huge parking lots and the bikers take over those lots as well just for more room to park bikes.
Some of these were taken at the main location, formerly Cadillac Jacks and the rest were taken at Shirley's about 5 miles away on highway 94. Other desitanations would be Fast Eddie's in Alton IL as well as other bars over in IL along the Mississippi up into the Grafton area.
The first picture is of a Honda CBX, I think a '78 model. This bike looked showroom clean and no bluing of the pipes and showed just over 2,000 miles on the odometer. What do ya say, 6 cylinders all in a row, what a sweet sound these are. When I was service manager at a Chevy Pontiac dealership in a previous life, we took in a CBX on trade. I drove it home one night and that thing would fly. This was in about '80 so there weren't a lot of faster bikes out there than maybe the KZ1000, but this CBX would do 85 mph in 2nd and sounded so pretty to the ears.

That's it for the event location.
More in the next post.
