Thinkin About Tradin
« on: October 16, 2009, 12:09:59 PM »

I love my orange 07 but have looked at a 10 red/black and the citrus color, boy they are nice.  I can get the red for MSRP but they are $4,000 over on the orange/citrus.  My bike has had some problems like shelling the motor twice :(, grips went out :(, has that tail end walk around hard corners :bananarock:, smaller tour pack with less lighting, but all and all I like it.  Only mod I felt needed was the handle bars.  Put on a set of Wild One Chubbys.  Been riding since the late 60's and want to be comfortable.

You guys that have the new 09 and 10's, can you help me out.  How much of a difference is there?  Have any of you had trouble with the fly by wire throttle?  Is the ride that much better?  I love the wide tire look and the 10's new seat is just awesome.  I never cared for anti lock brakes but for almost the same as I paid in 07 for mine they would be a nice addition.  Let me know what you all think.  Thanks.

Dom,
The only thing your 07 and the 2010 will have in common is the Harley name.  If you use the ABS even once it will pay for itself, the new swing arm, frame, shocks, and rear tire are AWESOME!  I traded an 08 Ultra in and I'll never look back!  GO FOR IT!  Like they say it's better to beg forgiveness than ask permission (that's how I did it).

Just hope you get one of the "good" ones, that has not changed since 07. Good luck to you

Funny, I found a couple of ambers for MSRP but had trouble finding a red one.  Must be a regional thing.

Going thru the same dilemma.  I love my 05 but am going to ride a citrus this afternoon.  Never have seen a red in person.

I too traded in my 07 that I loved for an 09.  The 07 had the infamous engine issue three times before the HD recall apparently fixed the problem.

The 09 is a dramatic improvement.  The larger tour pac (and I even like the six gallaon tank) is nice but the real advantage is the frame, the tires and the ABS.  Bike is heavier but handles and brakes better.

My 07 had engine work three times before 9000 miles and the 09 has over ten and has never been to the shop.

The ABS is worth the money.
