SEUC question on HEAD light bulbs
« on: October 23, 2009, 12:30:10 AM »

Why is it that my 2006 SEUC has the phillips bulbs and they are like H-11 and H-9 bulbs.  I go to Phillips and Slyvania web sites and can't find replacement bulbs?  I have been reading and reading as well as watching posts and have not come across any info.  I know the MOCO offers an upgrade kit but I have never looked into it.  I know most are running HID's and I am still thinking about it but I want the passing lamp to match.  I have read the HID reports and seen that some have gone to the PIAA 880's to compensate the passing lamps.

I don't fear change, I just know my limitations and am not sure I want to get into the HID wiring etc...

Thank-you guys,

Not sure why you might be having difficulty.  Just did a search by Sylvania Silverstar H9 and Sylvania Silverstar H11 and got hits.  Try Amazon.com.

Yes, the dual bulb housing uses bulbs as you described.  The single bulb housing uses an H4.

Good luck trying to find passing lamps to match HID headlights. I've tried them all and none come close. The closest I've seen was a Sylvania bulb that Kuryakyn was selling for about two months. They are no longer available. Kuryakyn told me that the price from Sylvania would be close to $600 a set and therefore decided not to sell them.
With all that said, don't let it discourage you from getting the HID headlights. They are well worth it!

What did you go to for your passing lamps then? PIAA 880's?

Yes. It was the closest I could find. I tried my best to talk the salesman at Kuryakyn out of their last set to no avail.

These look good. A little leery of the website but they look like they would fit the bill. Are you going to be the guinea pig?

Don't know about being the guinea pig. It's 9 degrees out today so it may be a few weeks before I'll be riding regularly again. This lighting mod may wait until the January thaw, at least. I was thinking that the clutch-side light could be a flood lens and the brake-side light could be a spot lens. That would add quite a lot of area to your field of vision. Informed speculation and no hands-on experience though.

Did you notice there harness being out the back of the light housing and sealed by a grommet?  New exposed harness to then run up inside the fairing rather than hidden as it is to begin with.  Their braided sheathing isn't enough to pretty that up.

Not on my bike either for the driving lights with the HID's.
