2010 CVOUC - high beam
« on: October 23, 2009, 03:30:42 PM »

I noticed that when I hit the high beam, there is very little difference. It does not reach out there, but is almost the same position as the low beam. Dealership let the lights hit the wall and agreed with me, but says there is no adjustment. Any ideas?

I'll check mine when my bike gets back........  since I almost never ride after dark, I have not noticed it.  But having no adjustment seems very wrong.

I agree. The high beam is rather worthless and it just doesn't "reach" any further down the road than the low beam. If anyone comes up with an alternative approach to the high beam, I would certainly be interested.

On a separate subject. I've read past methods to enable the passing lights to function with the high beam, however I'm unsure if those approaches will work with the 2010 wiring. Has anyone wired their passing lights to function with either the low or high beam? Does anyone know if there is a simple way to wire the passing lights from within the fairing to make them function with either low or high beam?

(Yes, I know its illegal but I really don't care. I'm more interested in avoiding deer where I live than the occassional time I inadvertently forget to lower the beam to oncoming vehicles. Besides, I've done alot more mods to the bike such as exhaust and engine upgrades that are illegal so modifying the lighting is hardly an issue from my perspective.)

Hey Heat, I tried some of the past posts, but on 09 and maybe the same on the 2110 BEWARE. the garage door opener is on the low beam circuit with passing lamps. So depending on where you splice the passing lamp off of the yellow low beam wire, you can lose the door opener. I tried two ways but I didn't like the results, One way you can keep the lamps on all the time from the extra pwr supply with the extra line on the head light harness. But it's unswitched, and I like the option of doing that, the other was not for our year because of multi spot/cruse rocker. If you find away please pass it on
