Carl,

It appears that pin 10 & 11 are empty in my J27 connector, I will have to check but I bet that is a positive and gnd that might go to the CB,  - If so where do I get the feed for these from?

Carl,

As I mentioned in the earlier post that I had installed the XM and that it does function correctly.  Now when I did that install I thought that I had supplied the Can + & Can - in pin 13 & 14 for the XM in J28 (35 pin connector), does that supply the power to the CB as well? No, 13 and 14 simply tell the HK that the CB module is installed; same for all other modules installed--they all connect to 13 and 14.  The power and ground to the CB module are supplied by the r/o wire (+) and blk/gn wire (-) in the CB module connector mated to the CB connector on the NUOH which ultimately run to the 6A/B connection.  Your XM module gets it power/ground the same way (i.e. r/o and blk/gn wires at the NUOH XM connector and 6A/B connection, and uses 13 and 14 the same as the CB module. If so I must have other issues as the radio did not recognize/discover the CB.

I have not completed or started the other connections with regards to the BAMI kit, not sure if that affects if the HK will discover the CB unit.   I also saw the TIF2 had mentioned that he had to install a couple of new wires into J27 for everything to work correctly, what I was not sure of is if that was necessary if I had installed the NUOH I do not see that Pin 2 or 15 are empty in my J27.  The two wires in your left handlebar harness that you reference are the other two wires (in addition to the r/o and blk/gn previously referenced) that make-up the 6B connector with v/gy wire in chamber 1 and be/y wire in chamber 2 of connector 6B.  You can double-check to be sure that those wires are in the correct chambers of 6B.

Thanks!

I'll try to take a look at the Electrical Diagnostic Manual and see what it may say about the HK radio no recognizing the presence of the CB module.  I don't know whether it's necessary to install the rest of the BAMI kit components before the HK recognizes the CB as installed.

There should be a r/o wire in 10, and a be/y wire in 11 in connector 27B; check-out the wiring diagram for your SESG2:

Don't know why those wires aren't there; perhaps they were used to make the 6B connector?  Also, I'm not sure about the internal operation of the HK, so I don't know what those wires do, particularly since they are duplicated by the wires at 19 (blk/gn) and 20 (r/o) of connector 27B--said another way, there are two pairs of r/o and blk/gn wires in 27B that are spliced together.

Hope you get it sorted out.

After you made the 6B connector, and successfully added the NUOH w/ XM, you're done adding wiring to your bike (but see note below); the BAMI kit's electrical components will be plug and play connections as will the CB module.  The HK will recognize the CB because the CB module connector (which includes a pair of wires for CAN + and -) plugs into the NUOH (which connects to the CAN + and - pinouts of the HK at pinouts 13 and 14).

The BAMI kit includes a new left side handlebar switches assembly:  switch housings (black), switches, harness, and connector) and you'll remove the OEM handlebar switch assembly and replace it with that supplied in the BAMI kit.  Since you have chrome housings, you'll need a new left lower chrome housing.  And you'll need to transfer the switches from the supplied black housings to the OEM left upper chrome housing and new lower left chrome housing.  As you mentioned, you could remove the PTT switch and wires from the assembly provided in the BAMI kit and add it to your OEM switches, but you'll still need a new lower left housing to accommodate the PTT switch.

NOTE:  I don't have handy a wiring diagram showing the left handlebar switch harness connected to the main harness, so I can't be certain that the wiring in the main harness (where it connects to the left handlebar switch harness) is complete for your purposes; it may need two additonal wires for the PTT switch.  I'm sure you can PM TIF2 (Rich) and he can supply the answer; I'll try to visit my dealer later today and report.

As for space inside the fairing, it's very tight and you may find, as I did, that it took several cycles of removing and installing the fairing and rearranging the wiring to reach a point where the outer fairing would install with virtually no resistance from the wiring inside the fairing.  My experience was that the more connectors I could arrange around the sides of the radio and/or atop the radio/modules the better; anything directly in front of the radio or slightly below was problematical, so anything below the radio needed to be well back towards the fairing skirt.

Good luck with your project.

Carl

Does anyone know the part number for the lower left chrome housing?

Thus far, it looks like the parts I'll need are: 77107-09 (Intercom kit), 76416-06C (CB Module), 70169-06A (Wiring harness), antenna, & headset/mic, and the chrome lower left housing.

Great write-up - I appreciate the effort and time this group puts into this site.

The lower left chrome housing is p/n 71613-96B.

Also, double-check the p/n on the BAMI kit.  The one you want when installing CB is 77108-09A; the 77107-09 kit is for intercom and won't work with CB w/o heavy mods to the wiring supplied with that kit.

Good luck with your project.

Thanks Carl on the part number.

Now I'm really confused on the intercom kit. I thought I needed the 77107-09 vs 77108-9A. I've got a FLHXSE (2010)...so I don't think I have the "...and Road Tech™ Navigation Interface Module P/N 76000024, Boom!™ Audio iPod® Interface P/N 76476-10, Boom!™ Audio SiriusXM® Satellite Radio P/N 76404-06, Boom!™ Audio Bike-to-Bike CommunicationsKit P/N 76416-06C or any other audio/ speaker accessory. " as the online catalog notes for the 77108-09A...or do I?

You will have the 76416-06C because that's the CB module kit.  (HD's product fitment descriptions are not a strong point.)

If you haven't already, take a look at the pdf installation instructions available on HD's website for both kits; the difference in the kits may become clearer.

The problem with using the 77107-09 kit for CB application is that the kit doesn't use a non-Ultra Overlay harness (NUOH), p/n 70169-06) for the rider and passenger headset connections and the PTT switches and simply uses an integrated harness for those features.  The 77108-09A uses the NUOH for those connections as well as providing a connection for the CB module itself--no such CB module connection is provided on the harness included in the 77107-09 kit which is one reason for my comment that use of that kit for CB would require substantial wiring modification.

Good luck with your project.

Glad to help.

The fact that the 77107-09 includes an extensive harness (albeit one that is not compatible with the CB module), and the 77108-09A does not, and instead requires the purchase of the NUOH for ~$100, may be the main reason for the price difference between the two kits.

Be sure to post some pictures of your installation.

I know this is an older thread but in doing the research for my install, this thread is referenced often.  I started out wanting to install my Road Tech Zumo 665 and have it interrupt the audio to give directions so I Bought the Non Ultra Overlay harness (NUOH) and the Navigation interface module (NIM) and installed.  Then I decided that I might as well connect the intercom.  I bought the kit from a member on this site and installed the intercom this weekend using the Boom Audio Music and Intercom Kit 77108-09A.  I installed everything except the new PTT switch in the left hand control.  Looks like I would need to pull the wires from the bars and repull the new wires back thru.  That was more than I wanted to tackle in addition to all the other things I did.

This thread was a great help and I wanted to say thanks.  I also bought a CB module cheap off ebay so I guess I will need to put in the PTT switch eventually but I am thinking about install some monkey bars and that would be the time to tackle the PTT Rider switch.
