« on: December 26, 2005, 11:19:33 PM »

I was down in Los Banos Golden Valley H-D. They were having a customer Christmas Party. I met this guy from H&D Drifters Performance, in Selma Calif. He's name was Chris Rivas, apparently he does all the Dyno work from Golden Vly& Merced H-D He was really wanting me to install a Race Tuner not a PC. Does anybody know his work or him  [smiley=confused5.gif] would like to hear. Thanks.   ISelBulls  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I am not familiar with him but if he is the tuner you are going to use and he suggests the Race Tuner then go that way. Most tuners specialize in one or the other and are familiar with each in their own way.

Still not sure who to go to but he is alot closer then Freedom in Reno who is my first choice. And he was the only guy I've talked to that recommended using a RC.

I think he use to be the lead tech at Fresno HD - I am not 100% sure on that but I think he was

It's always great to have options and remember Jack at Mitchell's in Modesto is also a good tuner

To me it's a no brain-er as you know Freedom can get you the ponies & torque you want but if you want to roll the dice (so to speak) maybe you should go with this guy. Again I am not even 100% sure if he is the guy I am thinking he is.

Really all you need from Freedom Cycles is their package with either you or someone else to install the 3 pieces and your scooter should run really well, then when the weather gets more consistent you can always ride over and have Brad tweak it.

If you get to Merced H-D, see if you can talk to Ralph in their service dept. he may know him. Ralph is not a dyno guy, but a great tech. Definitely go with the SE Race Tuner, IMHO. I've been through 3 PC's on various bikes, and don't think they do what's needed on CVO's. But some swear by them, but they probably never have not gone the Race Tuner route.

I talked to the Service Mgr. at Arrowhead before I rebuilt my SERG.  According to Floyd, the difference between a PC and the SE Race Tuner is that the PC sets 1 fuel map and it's used for both the front and rear cylinders.  With the Race Tuner, each cylinder has it's own map, and the Race Tuner has additional functions for ldle (warm and cold) and an adjustable rev limiter.  I've started with a basic map while I do the break in again.  Then I'll take the bike to Performance V-Twin for the fine tuning.

I had PC's on two bikes, both tuned by Doug Morrow at Carl's Speed shop in Daytona. It really brought my SERG to life, but both were done back before the race tuners were available. I have the race tuner on my 04 SEEG, (it came with it) and it runs like a bull..
