FL Models--Attaching the Weatherstrip Between the Inner and Outer Fairing

I have a 2010 CVO Street Glide. The most annoying thing to me is the weatherstrip between the inner and outer fairing that keeps on coming loose at the bottom when you ride.

Any ideas on how to do it one more time the right way. NO I won't rivet or screw it in.

Mine did that on my 07 SG, I put a VERY small amount of Elmers glue on the inside of the rubber,  and tucked it in and it stayed.  Then of course when I took it off again, I had to re-do it BUT it did stay.

Try 3M Trim Adhesive. Any auto parts store. Clean old stuff (Elmers???) out first with brake parts cleaner (spray it on the rag, not the paint) or alcohol then small bead of adhesive.

Have successfully used Rubber Cement that I stole from my kids.  Holds great and any excess rubs right off - doesn't harm the paint finish either.  :2vrolijk_21:

cheers!

Best stuff on the market for things like this!

Just glue it to the inner or outer not both. That way you won't have to redo it if you take the outer off again.3-M is the stuff.

Thanks very much Guys!!!

I think I'll trade a beer or two with a Body Shop Manger friend of mine for some 3M adhesive. Sounds like one of those 2 minute jobs that a 12 pack will help fix on a rainy day.......

Regards

You can pick that up at any Autozone, Advance Auto, PepBoys, etc for less than the price of a 12 pack.  Make sure that the weatherstrip is mounted properly and that your inner and outer fairings are installed tightly together.  My friend was having this problem and when I looked at it, I immediately showed him that his problem started with the windshield not being in place properly, which left a small gap at the top side of the fairing, and it wasn't bolting together properly on that side.  Once I loosened things, and put it back together, he never had the problem again.
