Well at 6'2" with a 9" memphis shape I would take a lot of wind in my face,  so I ordered a 12" and it appears to need to be cut down about an inch.  Hope this helps you decide.  [smiley=beerchug.gif]

I don't know where the theory came from that you have to see over the windshield.  I am 5'10" and use 2 windshields.  I have a 12" memphis shades for long trips.  I am looking through it about 3" from the top.  In rain at 60mph, nothing catches me in the face or head.  I use "rainex" on it, so the rain just rolls off, and I don't have to fight wiping the water off my glasses.  At 85-95 mph, it creates a nice vortex of air keeping me cool, but not whipping the wind in my face.
For normal riding, local day trips, and back and forth to work, I use the memphis shade 8".  It looks cool, (smoke, with mirrored lens) and it is functional.  I have used taller windshields for years, and have always faired better than riding partners in the rain.
A point in fact, Tuesday, I had to ride back from one of my offices during a severe thunderstorm.  Wind gusts to 60 mph, and some of the areas of rain I rode through was very heavy.  It was a 90 mile ride, and with my rain gear, no helmet, skull cap, bandana over my face, I really only got wet on my feet. (No lowers on)
This is a matter of personal preference, but I have made it through some tough weather with this type of setup.

I'm 6'1" with the 9" smoke.  WInd on the top of the lid and bugs in the face...   If I was you I'd start with a 10 or 11" and then you could trim if you felt the need...

I've used the stock shorty screen that came on the '04 SEEG for 28,000 miles now, and I love it  (except in the rain and when the occasional big rock hits me in the face on the interstate)  Other than that, it looks great on the lines of the bike and if I have to 'suffer' a bit to keep the bike lookin-good, then so be it!   Har!   [smiley=evilgrin.gif]   spyder

twolane,

what 9" screen you using. Also have any pictures

RSA from your avatar pic I see you've got a red bike.  So you might be really interested in this (and then again maybe not  [smiley=7.gif]  ).  The screen I'm using is a red tinted Memphis Shades piece.  The color is just a dead on match.

I'd never been a great fan of the color tinted windshields.  Than had an opportunity to get a 12" one of these cheap from a guy that didn't want to keep it after he had it.   The 12" was too tall for me but I surprised myself by discovering I loved the look of it.   So ordered a 9" piece and it's been on ever since.  Here's a pic from farther away.

I am just a little over 6 ft. I am running the stock windshield and I also purchased a memphis 8 in that is tinted the same color as my bike. I catch some wind in my face but no worries. I dont like the look of the taller windshields.

I still say ride it like you stold it. Windshield or not!!!  [smiley=shocked2.gif]  [smiley=confused5.gif]  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I also don't like to look through a windshield and would prefer to look over it.
I have a 9" shield and I like it, but with this bike, if I'm going into any kind of wind or if I'm running over 60mph, the buffeting shakes my head so hard that it blurs my vision. The only solution so far for me is to use a 12" shield as this has moved the most turbulent (sp?) air up over my head.
I think a lot of the problem is due to the fact that I sit too far back from the windshield. I noticed that if I move to within about a foot of the 9" shield that the air is smooth, but at 24" back where I usually sit, ( I like to lean on the backrest), the air is very turbulent with any shield that I can look over.
