i love the 13 inch suspension techs they are amazing in 2 up and 1 up. every since i got them i have finally been able to ride my bike 500 plus miles a day.
before with the stock shock after 500 miles i would be so trashed that i could get on the bike for a week. also i am with u i dont need no low profile look i need a cadillac ride. thats why i bought a bagger

I have the 12.5 Bitubos on mine and NO problems with bottoming out. even 2-up and loaded. You just have to set the shock up properly.  :2vrolijk_21:

Talked to the people at Suspension Tech re 12 vs 13 inch shocks for my 2009 fltrse3.  They cautioned against putting 13 on the back without raising the front.

I was thinking about the Progressive monotube for the front end.   I don't know what part I would need to raise the front.

I don't understand the geometry in putting higher in the back and leaving the front the same.  Can anyone explain why this is not a good idea.

All I know is something has got to change for me to enjoy this bike.

I would suggest you verify the height of your SERG.  I don't think that bike has the lowering kit on it and I've been told by 2 different sources that the front is actually standard height of 13", therefore no problem with 13" rear shocks.  I currently have 13" progressives and they have no bad effect on the front end, just not happy with their performance on the back.  Some people think that because it is a CVO that it automatically has been lowered.  Not always the case.

There are forum members MUCH more knowledgeable on this topic than me, but I really think Suspension Technologies mis-spoke, and shame on them for not doing more research as they may have lost a sale.  Your HD dealer should be able to verify immediately.

Good luck, and know what you mean.  Stock shocks have to go.

Someone posted the different part #'s for a regular RG front end and a CVO RG. I am pretty sure its lowered. My buddy and I measured our bikes RG vs CVO RG, front axle to top of the forks and my cvo was lower.

as well as height difference on the front end

Just check the 2 parts manuals and the fork tubes, lower legs, damper tube and the top out spring are the same. The damper valve and main fork spring are different. Ride height should will be the same as it is controlled by the fork tube, damper tube and top out spring.

I also have a set, I will be putting them to the test in a few weeks. Once the snow melts and the streets are clean.

Have sold and installed both. I have the 12" on my own bike.
