Have sold and installed both. I have the 12" on my own bike.

bottoming out and rough ride are my concerns.  Would the 13inch give me  a better chance of eliminating those problems?

How much of the problem is caused by the front end? Best solution for that?

I have not heard the Arnott air shock mentioned? i put the 12 inch on my 09 serg so far seem to be working very well. much better than that stock peace of sh&^ that the moco put on. just my 2 cents worth.  :pepper: :pepper:

13" shocks will have less chance of bottoming due to the increased travel. The front ends are much better than they used to be. They can certainly be made better with an upgraded damper valve or cartridge system. Progressive has the new monotube and of course probably the best (and most expensive) would be the Traxxion Dynamics cartridge.

For what its worth I do not have a bottoming out issue with the 12" Suspension Tech shocks on my SEEG.

When riding solo or even two-up ?

either...The shocks have an adjustble pre-load so you can set them for the added passenger weight

Harley had an opportunity to get it right when we paid for the original shocks.  It's a case of "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me." I am going with the 13 inch ST.

Got my 13" ST 's on today and road 90 miles, just me, thru my local back roads and some known spots where stock shocks made me wince but not so with these, happy thus far!!   Big improvement 1-up we'll see how they fare 2-up later.  HD-Dude took care of me, if going to buy some, email him.    I'll post my opinion when I do a run with 2-up & luggage.

 ;D

In my opinion these ST's are great!  Major improvement over the stock air shocks.  They have surprising proven to be great in 1up, 2up & fully loaded touring.   :2vrolijk_21:

This was an easy DIY install.  My only whoops was I had a Wheeldock center stand and the added heigth (~1/2") made that unusable.  But called Wheeldock and they were great, they knew hwo to handle the upgrade, for $50 I sent it back to them and they welded and repainted with the added 1/2" heigth and now it works great again.

They range from $490-$545 retail depending on chrome or black or combo chrome and black options.

I would also go this way with the shocks from suspension technology , but i hesitate because what will i do when there is any issue about the shocks (could allways happen) or some service would be needed .
Sending back to the US from germany is not economically and hides several problems and needs a lot of time (and money) .
HD shocks could be serviced or complained through the dealer, great advantage for me here in germany .

I installed the 13 inch ST shocks Friday and rode the bike about 150 miles.  You still feel bumps so if you thought you were getting a Town Car ride it's not going to happen.  What it did do was stop the pogo sticking and it keeps the rear wheel on the road.  Much more comfortable both single and 2 up.  Highly recommend.  Also if you  have a bike jack this is a good do-it-yourself project.  Order the parts from HD Dude who steered me in the right direction.

I may not need to do any suspension work  on the front end.

I still a little conserned about the weight that is going to be on my bike. Me at 280 and Susie at 130. What is my best option?
