The U P on the way to The Great lake Tour held in Madison Wis. So that would make it Lake Superior. I'll bet you were thinking it was South Carolina or Georgia shore line. Is does look like that.

a streetbike when I was 13 years old that didn't run. All I know is that it was a Yamaha that was from the 70s or so that had chrome fenders a mustard yellow paint job and a bunch of dents and I was determined to get it to start just once to ride it around the neighborhood.......it never started and I dont remember what happened to it, for all I know it's still right where I left it. I did rebuild a froze up briggs and strat lawnmower engine when I was 15 though, so I must have learned something about engines with that thing that never ran.
1986 Suzuki GS550...rode it everywhere while in the army, picked up cheap, let it go cheap....served it purpose but made me nervous in the twisties.

2005 Heritage Softail Classic......the bike I had always dreamed of owning one day. SOLD

Wife decided wanted a H-D of her own 2005 1200 Custom, traded for a 2001 built up FXDX

2005 CVO Fatboy........the bike that convinced me to trade in the Heritage.....I miss the Falcon at times but I get over it when I hit the throttle on the Silver Sled.

Interesting topic. I have a simular history to Hubbard, blocks of my memory went up in smoke or more accurately, Qualudes.
60? Sears scooter (Vespa), got high and lost it somewhere, never saw it again, heard it was seen for years after. Paid $50.00 + 2 lids
