It's been relayed to me by almost everyone that I've talked to that you need to do some fuel management system on the bike at a minimum to get the best results for those pipes.  I went down the road once of not doing that and didn't ruin the engine, but the pipes were ruined within a year :-[

Thanks for your quick response Badger Mike. I didn`t know that the pipes could be suffering. I probably have to make that extra investment... :(

My SESG will arrive in mid-april and I plan to install the V&H Hi-Output Slip-Ons. I`ll do this primarily to get rid of the stock sound. A question:

- Do I have to invest in a SE Race Tuner or likewise? Is there any danger of damaging the engine if I don`t?  :-\

No you do not the ECM on the FLHXSE will compensate for the change. The post 2007 ECM's with O2 sensors will all do this. The bike will run lean to the factory set EPA air to fuel ratio. There is no tangible way it has any effect on the pipes.

If you add the SERT or TTS you can adjust the A/F ratio to 13.8 and run cooler and improve performance. You do not "need" however to do this it's purely a choice.

Thanks Whellsnkeels and Highjagger. Will the performance improvement be marginal with a SERT on this set-up?

There is no flat answer it depends on each engines characteristics and how it gets tuned? in general it can be as much as 10% or as little as 3%. The engine will run from  40 to 90* cooler prolonging engine life and making for a much more comfortable ride in summer temps. :2vrolijk_21:

I dont think thats a stock head pipe anymore. looks like the dresser duals. The Hi-Output slips are what I have always wanted, however they seem to be hangin awful low to me. anyone else see the same thing or is it just me?

Good observation...That is weird.........Looks like the Hi-outputs on fish eyes bike does hang a little lower below the bags when you compare them to mrwclarks Hi-outputs (post 37 or 38) .   Unless its the angle of the pictures that distorts the height.

I thinking about ordering the v&h hi-outputs for my sesg.. How loud would they be with stock head pipes? Could I listen to the stereo and talk to honey out on the highway? How much louder would they be if I changed the stock head pipes?
