Yup
Mine need the recall, but I haven't got the letter yet. I cant take it in without the letter, right ;)  Besides my headers are going to fly to Arizona this week.

You don't need the letter, if you check on the HD website for any updates to your bike, it will show up like mine did that I need to take it in for the recall.  They can call up the same information at the dealership.

If you are able to type this to us, then let the freakin' tank bend.  50 mph straight on collision?...I'm happy to see your words appearing here after that.  I guess the bad thing would be if the bike landed on you and the tank leaked and then you caught on fire.  That would rank up there in the top 10 bad days.

Boy, you ain't kidding there - bent tank at impact was the last thing I was concerned about.  But that would definitely constitute "insult to injury" if the bike landed on me and set me on fire too..... :sauer005: :sauer005:

Biggest concern is tank rupture and spraying fuel all over the rider(s).  It's unbelieveable that Harley has strayed so far from the company that we used to know and turning out some of the things they are pumping out now.

EVERYBODY has been amazed that I am where I am after the wreck, but I know I was saved by grace and am thankful for a second chance.

Another amen from the choir.  That's an ugly straight-on collision.  Assume you did an end-o and went over the bike and whatever was in front of you?  However it happened just glad to you see typing right now.  Good man :2vrolijk_21: .

I just called my dealer after checking my vin against the service check list (I am on it) and they said they had heard about it and were taking names to call when they get parts in.  So I can take the bike in without worrying that they will impound it whilst they wait on parts to do the recall work...will get the ABS reflash at the same time.

Same here.  The service manager at my dealer told me today that they've been notified of the recall, but have not received the official notice from the MoCo or the parts.  They are doing the same thing and taking names and will call me when the parts come in.

Went by today.  14th parts will be in.  70 bikes on the list.  Call when they are ready for me.  We dont want your bike, take it back home.  Sounds good to me.

touring bikes built June 6, 2008 through November 19, 2009 - in this period H-D sold some 380.000 bikes, around 20 % of them were touring models - that's some 76.000 bikes worldwide that need to be fixed.

Let's say 2 hours for each, even if H-D reimburses their dealers only 50 $/hour and gets the parts just for some cent that's around 8.000.000 $ minimum, not regarded administrative costs, engineering and so on. In the end the over-all damage is quite likely to be well above 20.000.000 $.

What a giant mess.

uiiih - 111.569 units potentially affected - so they must have sold touring models far better than I estimated  :2vrolijk_21:

checked my VIN, my glide is on the list too.  I called my local dealer where I had my first service performed, he hadn't considered my bike as one to order the parts.  Now I am on the list and waiting for parts arrival :(
