Rob,

We had one in Nelson BC, two years ago. We had the usual suspects from Canada and the US.

Right now in Calgary it is -29 deg. C.

geezerglide
Its a balmy 0 deg C here today in Southern Ontario  :2vrolijk_21:

I have been thinking about a GTG in the central Ontario area,  maybe around Huntsville or maybe Collingwood.   :nixweiss: It might be a lot of work to set up as it is about 6 hrs. north of where I am,but the riding in that area would be great.  I am about 20 min. from Niagara Falls, which might be a nice destination for those who have never been there, but the surrounding area is Quite flat as far as interesting rides.  That being said there are several other tourest ish things to see in the area.

That is one of the reasons I started this thread to get some "feel" for opinions on where we might hold a Canadian GTG,as well as getting to know some members a little better.  When I heard of some of the GTG's on the site I googled the area and went on Google Earth to check it out, I hope others will do that with the suggestions that might come in on this thread.

Thanks for your replies

since you are close to the US border you might want to consider the new river gorge event in Aug

I am definitely keeping that GTG on my "hope to do" list.  I have already booked the MV10 and I am not sure I can swing both this year.

Good Evening from Ottawa, Ontario... yes I am from Ottawa and I am here to help LOL

Retired military, now a very Civil Servant.   I miss my LEO and my AVGP, but the SERG is a close second.   I am one of the Organizers of the National Memorial Ride, a ride to pay tribute to the men and women who have, are and will be serving our Country and its great people.  We hold a weekend event with the Ride for Dad 6 Jun and it includes some really nice rides, two large parades of bikes and a big party in Navan - just outside of Ottawa.  :drink:

www.nationalmemorialride.com

Lots to do and see in the Capital... some great rides in the country, that are very biker friendly.  Cross the River into Quebec, and see some really nice scenes... oh yeah, the country side is nice too :D  All sorts of museums, shops, and things to see over a weekend, and a great biker bash on the Sat night!!  We dont know who will be the headliner yet but it will be an act that keeps its pants up, and speaks one of the official languages LOL

Last year we had over 300 riders show up.

:soapbox: If you have not been to the National Military Cemetery (just opened and dedicated last year) it is very moving.  Those young men and women died so I could ride where and when I want, and its a great way to say thanks.

That sounds like a great weekend GANK  :2vrolijk_21: something I would definitely ride 6 hrs. to be part of.  I hope you will mention it again as the date gets closer to remind us of the event.

Hi, just cleared the driveway (again)! We've been green until this AM when the snow blew in from "South of the Border" (go figure!).
I'm in Barrie, about a half hour from Collingwood.

I can understand why a GTG would be held in the Rockies or anywhere west, fantastic rides and people, although Ottawa is a cool area to tour as well.

With Base Borden near here, I have ridden with many service and support personnel and recall talking to some who have participated in the ride you mentioned.

Will have to pencil in this event.

Yeah rode the snowblower twice last night.... up and down the driveway.  24 cm fell, but the wind caused a lot of drifting... I guess it really is over for the season.. :'(
