A little personalized touch to new RK Hardbags
« on: December 14, 2009, 06:54:28 PM »

This was part of the paint job when I had the black hard bags painted to match my CVO RK.
Sorry for phone quality pic and the bike was dirty from getting caught in rain last time out.

Verdict is still out on it. Not really what I had in mind. Painter was supposed to paint in dirt and rocks flying back to give more of the running horse effect. It kinda looks like legs sticking out of the saddlebags without that.
I may just have it painted over by my painter while he still has paint mixed.

What do you all think? Be honest.

Your original concept would of probably worked, dirt and rocks flying around.  Not a big fan of current design.

Keep in mind I couldn't paint a circle on a button,  but you did ask.

I think that the rocks and dust and maybe a distant fence line would finish it off nicely

Before you do anything get the other stuff added. I like it with or without the other stuff. I live about 10 minutes from Churchill Downs and I can tell you that, that would be pretty cool here. My vote, it stays.  :2vrolijk_21:

In my mind it looks, to say the least, strange. Can't make anything out of the way the horse legs have been placed on the bags. Maybe together with the side view, it makes sense. So far  :stop: :stop:

If the left hoof was down more (more planted)  then it would have more of an appearance of running as opposed to jumping - with booth hooves straight out it gives a different look.  I think that may be the problem at first glance - now I would not have it repainted -  I agree with others add the dust and gravel.  My suggestion would be to put a rock in the middle of the left hoof so it has the appearance of the hoof digging into the gravel, it would help cover the hoof more- I think that would give you the look you want.

my vote is to KEEP IT  :2vrolijk_21: no matter what you do I would bet no one else has saddlebags as unique as yours.

Thanks for the input.

Being a Professional Horseman and anal about things, I am kinda POed that he did not pay more attention to the detail I gave him as far as pictures and the request for dust and rocks and dust, the left foot should be down more and both hoofs should not be so vertical.

I don't know what he will charge to redo it but probably more than I want to spend.

I may ask and if he knows I'm not real happy he may cut me some slack.
