Hey JC

Two thoughts.

1.  These MC's are all basically the same in the front end, wheel weight really won't make much difference.
The rear on the SG has 1" shorter shocks than the RG, thus the extra weight of the wheel will cause the shockt to work harder on the same road,
however I don't think that will be measurable.
2.  While HD is replacing D407's with D408's the 10 SG did not come with 407's & when they see the RG wheels I don't know if they would replace the tires.

Just thinkin out loud

Thanks for your thoughts Bill.

I was thinking that he requests the tire change first......if he hasn't done that already.  He has changed them but I haven't confirmed that it was to the 408s......I'll do that when I look at the wheels.  He checked his paperwork for the mileage on the paperwork and right now we're only a couple hundred miles difference between the two, so I'm thinking their 408s most likely.

As for the weight difference, not to much of a concern.  The weight difference (what ever that is?) would mostly be on the front so not concerned about the back.  And, if I just did the chrome exchange on my stock wheel, for the all chrome wheel, there's still going to be a weight difference.  However, I am curious what that weight difference is......if anybody knows?

I also want to find out what the chrome exchange wheels would cost because I do like the SESG wheels better, if they were all chrome......does anybody know the cost of the exchange?

For my Spiced Rum, I wouldn't change - the black themes go well.
If I had a Candy Concord, I would do the straight across swap..

Obviously I think the black Agitator goes very well with the Rummy  :2vrolijk_21:

Chrome agitator wheels info:

Gilly's statement is correct. There is a weight (spinning inertia) limit that the full chrome agitator wheel exceeds for use on 'batwing' models. The full chrome SEUC wheel falls below this spec limit, but it's a different wheel.
The chrome Agitator wheel fits of course, just technically a tad too heavy and 'could' cause handling issues. Therefore 'not a correct application.'

Chrome blade wheels info:

It’s true that low unsprung weight has a significant impact on handling, and the Mirror chrome Agitator wheel is 0.8 pounds heavier than the Contrast Chrome. Consider that the 18” Blade (40818-08) has an ’04 and later Batwing model application, and is 9.87 pounds heavier than the Contrast Chrome Agitator wheel.

I don’t know why the Mirror Chrome Agitator doesn’t have a Batwing model application, but I am skeptical that it has anything to do with the +12 ounce difference in weight.

I’ve got the 18” blade on my ’09 FLHX, and have dialed it up over 55 a couple of times through the sweepers without experiencing any instability.  :2vrolijk_21:

BTW, I hope you decide to go with the chrome.  I like the contrast one's and since you've taken all my other ideas I'll need something to make my bike different from yours. :huepfenlol2:

O.K. now I'm thourouly confused.........again. :nixweiss:

What is the difference between a "contrast chrome agitator" and a "mirror chrome agitator"?

And to get "up over 55 mph a couple of times" isn't very comforting to me.  Hell, I think my bike gets up over 100 at least once, every time I get on it. :nixweiss:  So my question is how does our bike handle at 110 mph with the all chrome wheel?

What can I say, I tried driving 56 mph once and I didn’t like it, so I slowed right back down; better safe than sorry. Keeping it subsonic means that the hoards of people passing you get a good look at the chrome goodies, and windburn is never a problem.  ;D

JC,
The contrast chrome (they forgot to put an "and" in between) are the rims that come with the SESG, the mirror chrome or all chrome are the HD accessory wheels.

DJ was saying that he's taking the bike through some sweepers at 55 mph and didn't notice any difference in handling.   Somehow I can't see DJ driving straightline at 55.... :P
