Get the Ultra, that's what you want. Tell your dealer what's going on and where you can get the bike. It happened with my last two bikes. The dealer didn't care that I bought them elsewhere. They make all their money on the service, not the sale.  Believe me, they want you to service it there.

First, don't worry about the dealer.  They know you gave them the first shot and they know that they couldn't get you what you wanted.  Believe me, they will still be happy to take your service dollars.

Second, if you are looking at the Ultra for everything that comes with it, like tourpack and rear speakers, etc., then you'll miss those items with the SESG.  If you are planning on removing the tourpack and rear speakers, and making it look like a SG, then why spend the extra on the Ultra?  As much as I like the SESG, I don't see it as a substitute for the SEUC.

If you want the Ultra, don't keep pondering it.  If you don't act quickly, it'll be gone.  Someone will scoop it up if you don't.  I was lucky that when I bought mine, I didn't think twice and immediately said I'll take it.  Five minutes later, a couple walked in with a checkbook in hand ready to buy it and they were 5 minutes too late.

I had the same problem, my local dealership that I really like dealing with could not get the bike I wanted and if they could it was 2,000 higher then I got it for. Brad (thanks again) found me a SEUC in Amber the color I wanted and saved me about $4,000 to boot.  he only kicker was I had to drive 5 hours to pickup the bike but the Kids and me made a day of it and we had a blast. My local dealer was fine with it and thanks me for having the service done there. So long story short, get the SEUC in the color you want, and WOW what a color you will love it. I think it's getting harder a find CVO's right now, at least the one you want, so go get it before it gone. GOOD LUCK, and post some pic's no matter what you get.

Get the bike you really want from whoever has it. Let your dealer service it. If he has tried to get you the bike you want and can't, he has no right to be upset when you purchase it elsewhere. JMHO

Ditto. Simple as that :drink:

As good as you think your relationship is with your local dealership, you're still just a wallet to them (unless they're family). Get the bike you really want regardless of who's selling it to you. Your local dealership will be more than happy to collect your money from you for servicing the bike. There's no reason whatsoever to feel awkward about buying the bike from a different dealership because they have what you want.

Ask yourself a simple question...if your local dealership had both bikes on the showroom floor today...which one would you write the check for? The answer to this question will easily settle the matter for you.

Get the bike you really want.  Why should you feel bad about not buying it from "your dealership"?  At least they'll be getting to service it and sell you parts.  And 2 hours away is nothing!  I searched and searched for mine and finally wound up driving almost 900 miles round trip to bring her home.  The main thing is get what you really want and if you want it bad enough, nothing else will stop you from doing that...

Ed45, As a lot of the other guys have said "Don't settle". I did that once, and everytime I saw the bike drive by that I really wanted I knew I had made a mistake. CAHDBIKER

Pretty much echoing what others have said... You're decision is not really about a comparison between the bikes, it's a perceived loyalty issue...

Your first "loyalty" should be to yourself...  It's your hard-earned money (and a lot of it with these bikes) and you should spend it in a manner that brings you the joy / pleasure / fun that YOU want.  If they turn a cold-shoulder to you just because you buy the bike from the other dealer (which they likely won't) then you'll know for sure that you made the right choice by taking care of yourself first.

You basically gave your dealer "first right of refusal" in getting you the SEUC, which by the way, is what you really want, so don't deny it.  :P  As far as your dealer is concerned, they make more money on clothes, accessories and service off of you then they'd ever make off of the profit they'll make on the bike.  All dealers make the bulk of their money that way, that's why after-sales customer service, IMO, is more conducive to customer loyalty then how you are treated during the actual sale of the bike.  Your dealer will be more than happy to service and sell you accessories for your SEUC. As far as the extended service plan, yes, you can buy it from any HD dealership, it's the same company that provides the coverage.  I gave my dealer the opportunity to give me the ESP for 20% off that I could get it for at Tri-County and they gave it to me.  A sale's a sale.  When you get the ESP, make sure you get the wheel/tire warranty add-on, well worth the money.   Good luck in what ever direction you decide to go, I went the best route, I have one of each. :)

From what my dealer told me the Street Glide in spiced rum is hard to get. I can't see why your dealer can't trade the Glide for the Ultra, unless the two dealers don't get along. I am a very loyal person, and my dealer and I have a good relationship. I am a firm believer in buying at home. BUT.. If your dealer has exhausted every avenue trying to get the bike you want, don't worry go get that ultra. I have the SG your considering and I love it. All things considered it is not an Ultra!

Go with what your heart tells you. Although it is very considerate of you to work through your local dealer...in the end it is your happiness and satisfaction that counts.

Good luck and enjoy whatever you choose.

Get the bike that you want, its your hard earned money.

BTW, I have an ultra and would not trade it for a street glide. But I would love to have a street glide as my second bike.

Thanks to a hard working out of town dealer, a helpful board member (RagTop) and an understanding local dealer, I will take delivery of the much sought after amber/citrus SEUC next week. Mike’s Famous got the job done and the local dealer will be doing the mods. Everyone is happy and I couldn‘t me more proud and pleased to have such a beautiful machine. Will keep you all posted as the Stage I is finalized. Now, if we could get a little help from the weather man!
