I would also assume that, per the picture of the cable in the Harmon Kardon radio, the Zumo will still utilize the AUX input leaving little hope for a true electronic interface with voice over sound.

d00d could have done a better installation job than that and he can't even install chrome hinges!

On the comments about the dash pad becoming available, I would be hesitant about rushing out to change it. Technology changes rapidly. I never like making changes for electronics as the platform changes so quickly it may be outdated in a year or two and then you have a gaping hole in the inner fairing... Oh wait, HD already put a huge hole in the inner fairing...
Damn!!! No respect!!! :P ::) ;D

But you have a valid point... would have been better if they just ran the cord thru existing (cable) holes in the fairing on one side and out the other. Then if someone wanted to clean the installation up and go w/the plug on the back of the radio the wouldn't have a (another) plug in the fairing to deal with.

Good thing is that this bike is still in "pre" production and hopefully they will listen to our advice.

But you know AJ if I were interested in that bike I'd probably replace (repair) the inner fairing, get a handlebar mount for the Zumo, and do the speaker pods replacing the dashpad.

Can someone (Gary ???) confirm the current Harmon Kardon software version? With all of this chatter, I just looked to see what the latest version was on the HD website and it's 8.21.

Now just think about what you just said....."repair the inner fairing"  ......... on a latest model CVO, the 'flagship' of the MoCo.  Why doesn't that sound good to me?  :-[ :confused5:  spyder

Repair/change... as we normally repair/change so many things to our bikes when we get them. Not going to be the first time someone has bought a CVO and changed/repaired something so it fit them or their tastes. Surely you're not surprised by/of that?? :nixweiss:

Other then the link you posted that's all I would know of. Don't have one of those radios so can't confirm or deny that's the latest. :nixweiss:

I must have missed it, that plug on the right connecting to AUX is for the GPS? and the dash pad mount. In order to use the dash pad mount , that's HD solution.

That's what we are speculating... don't see/think what else it could be for. :nixweiss:

I just find that external cable to be a bit amaturish (if that's a real word) for a latest model CVO, is all.  And to leave you no option but to do major 'repairs' in bodywork & paint to make it look like it should have come from the factory in the 1st place is all I'm talking about.  I wouldn't put that in the category of the usual 'personalizing' or 'improvement' mods to our bikes.  JMHO.  spyder

This is from the MoCo's website. Not sure if this is a picture before or after the installation of the wire:

looks like all of the wires are routed through the mount and or dash pad, then the put an audio plug in the faring and a short cable to the radio
