Boating/marine industry has used this same concept for many,many years for life jackets etc.  Works great in the water to keep you buoyant .  Not sure how much protection you'd get sliding down pavement.  Interesting though. . . . . .

Good idea.. but how many riders will get off the bike and walk away with it still hooked up?
