Who wears earplugs while riding (and not while your wife is talking to you) and what type do you use?

I usually ride with custom made earphones and play my I-pod or use custom made molded ear plugs.  I usually only use them on long trips.  Rineharts wear you out after a day of riding.

Custom earplugs with acoustic filter.  Wouldn't ride without them.

My wife wears them, custom molded, workED as an AQP in a dentist office for years, used them to drown out the high pitched grinder noise.

Custom molded with filters. Rode for 30+ years without them (but with a full-face helmet), now if I leave them out, I stop after 10 minutes to put them in.
Can't believe I went without for so long.

Custom plugs, HATE wind noise and hate traffic/highway noise even more. When I forget them I DO return home for them.

Yes, absolutely. I wear Moldex Pura-Fit 6800 disposable ear plugs. I encourage all riders to wear them.

Any type of ear plugs are better than no ear plugs.

If we neglect to wear them while riding, we have little regard for our hearing.

This is just one article reviewing the different types and their respective benefits:
 http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/earplugs/

There are many associated reports correlating motorcycle riding with hearing loss.

  Your hearing; Your choice.

Be safe. Ride often.

Cheap ones, but I wear them. Am thinking about getting some high tech jobbies.

Hearos Xtreme Protection Series Ear Plugs are great! The thing I like about these is they are VERY soft and mold to your ear well. Use them a few times and thtow them away. They are cheap.  I have custom molds as well but you can buy a box of these form your local Walgreens/CVS/etc for less than 5 bucks and they are great... I always have several pair in my glove box.

I make my living with my ears and have to protect my hearing.

When you are wearing earplugs how do you convince the cop that your bike isn't really "that" loud?  :2vrolijk_21: :I did have to buy a full face helmet at Walmart late one night when I got caught in Missouri and was amazed at how all the Harley engine noise, valve train rattles, and other scary noises went away!

For those who use custom fit with filter earplugs, what brand do you use and why? Also where did you buy them?

I wear the custom molded EAR Inc. c/w speakers. Also sometimes I will wear the Shure Ear Phones.

With the EAR Inc. units, when I turn the music off I can hear conversation around me. Also use them when I visit compressor stations, refineries and pulp mills which when in operation are really loud.

I have a set of custom molded ones I got at Sturgis a few years ago - hot pink.  I don't remember the name, but they have a booth in the Community Center every year.  They squirt the goo in and a minute or so later can be removed.  About an hour after that they are cured and ready to go.  Also can be fitted with earphones if you like.  I wear them whatever helmet I have on.
