Well, I tried to be good and not post in this thread but I just can't resist.  I have been running the Daytona Twin-Tech setup on my 124" build for about 15K miles.  Here's my thoughts regarding the system and its "wide-band" sensors.

I absolutely love the flexibility that the software gives me.  I can see and/or adjust anything and everything.  I get great gas mileage and good performance from the setup.

Now for the downside.  I know that the "autotune" will not be as performance perfect as a dyno'd bike.  I am leaving some power on the table.  My biggest complaint however is the inconsistencies.   I can load a map and the bike will start easy, run well, etc., then it will randomly just go sour.  Hard starting, running very rich, idle issues, etc.  I reload my base map and the bike will run well again.  I have quite a few cells at the bottom end "locked down" (don't autotune) trying to keep the idle issues from coming back but to no avail.

Bottom line is that I am frustrated with the system and if I didn't recently get laid off I would be replacing it with the Mastertune and getting it dyno'd.  The autotune system is a great idea, it's just not ready for prime time yet...

Isn't Thudermax- wide band, autotune and uses wide band sensors that are located in the stock positions. Am I missing something? :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3: :huepfenjump3:

That sounds like one of the recurrent complaints against the Thundermax also Ernie.  That it can make wrong decisions and wander off over time.  It allows by software selection the option of turning off the autotuning function if one decides against its use.  From what you've written I'm assuming the Daytona kit doesn't have that option?

Ernie

That sounds just like sensor drift/failure I've tried to tell you all about. You are just like the hundreds of calls we've gotten about these issues. If you have a good base calibration that runs well and gets good mileage see if you can turn the autotune function OFF or limit the amount it can adjust the base calibration too. It may solve your issue and it really doesn't matter if you are getting all the power you could. If your happy with what you've got, go out and enjoy it!

Don and Steve,

I appreciate and agree with what you are saying!  Twin-Tech does give the option of turning off the auto tune.  I guess I'll tweak a little bit more then lock it down, even though it defeats the purpose of why I bought the damn thing...

Hmmmmm, just a thougt: if there was a really "autotuning" device, everybody would buy it asap, no promotion needed.

Thousands of dyno-people were out of their jobs - and insiders had already changed their line of business some time ago using their insider-advance-knowledge.

As I see Steve's shop is not for sale and Dynojet still sell their equipment I personally doubt any device presently on the market or even at the horizon really deserves the description "autotuning".

Just my 2 cents  ;)

Just for the record I have run The Fullsac stage I and now stage II and I love the TTS master tune and the fact I have my stock ECM. It was cheaper and when on the road I know I Can get one from an HD dealer if needed. You can read my bike setup I won't type it all out again.

I ran the Tundermax on my 07 FLHX with good results and the only draw back I saw was the price. Now I have read many posts from many people claiming problems with the Tmax. Makes me think I was just lucky. The new Tmax for the TBW is just coming out at Daytona. For me I am weary of new produsts until some others have tried them. An Alpha release can be full of bugs?

Ultimately the decision is up to you. I hope you get something that makes you happy! That's the point after all! :bananarock:

TTS master under $500
Tmax $1k
PCIV auto tune $1k

I've talked to many people including bike builders that do major engine builds that swear by the Thundermax with auto tune. I am not sure where you are getting your pricing info but I paid $598 for my PCV with auto tune, and don't have to pay for any dyno time. ;)

My bad on the price total is $749.94. I have CRS sometimes. I know some can get a discount.

This is from the pc site:

Power Commander V  15-003  $379.95

Related Accessories Part# Price Buy
AutoTune for Power Commander V  AT-100  $369.99

Contact Sales: 800-992-4993 (USA only)

As far as the Tmax I said I had good luck with it for 20k miles then sold the bike.  I read on this forum many talking Chit about Tmax problems. My understanding of auto tune is you still could benefit from a dyno tune.

I am curious If Steve Cole has any comments on Thundermax. It is a wideband auto tune system. I know little about Thundermax and have never had a chance to purchace one . I am on the "list" and placed an order several years ago that never materialized.  I cannot comment on this tuner other than a few positives on the old throttle unit from a few locals riders that got theirs at the HD dealer.  :drink:

Faceracer, I am glad to hear that you did not have any issues with your autotuner in 20,000 miles. This is consistant with what I've found in talking to other people who have autotuners.  Tmax uses the same sensors as the PCV I believe. Yes, you can purchase the PCV with Autotune from dealers for $598.00.

I have gone back and forth between PCV, Thundermax and Mastertune over and over.  I need to buy one now, so I am going with Mastertune.  at least I know where to find Steve Cole if I have any issues.  I like the idea of being able to program the stock ECU.  Now if I can just find a map for a 2010 CVO with Rush True Dual Exhaust and V&H Monster Rounds, I will be all set until ready for my Dyno Tune.  Steve? Are you listening?  Can you recommend a map to use during the break in period?

Power Commander has a great support tech line. I found out when speaking with them a few days ago that Fuel Moto is the #1 Power Commander dealer in the country. Speaks for itself.  :drink:

ScreaminStreetGlide

EUJ009-001 will be a good base calibration. Set it up and run a couple Vtune runs and I think you will be very happy.
