Sure had a hard time getting to sleep last night lol....visions of chrome goodies against that dark paint job kept me tossing for hours  :(  I know the "theme" of the bike is blacked out chrome, but it's the paint on the "bike" that got me.  I think putting a little of the chrome back in just the right places will make that bike bad *ss.

Then there was all those thoughts of a trailer painted to match, giving Deb a place to put all the junk she's going to buy while we cruise down hwy 101 this summer on it that cost me another hour of sleep.....

I actually woke up pretty dam tired this morning lol, lack of sleep and exhaustion from thinking to much took it's toll  :P

What are the extra charges for, guys?  Freight from where to where and setup?  If that's freight from HD to the store, and uncrating, PDI-ing, then I'm astonished they get away with charging for such things at all!  Wouldn't happen in the UK, and if they tried it, they'd get laughed at!  Our dealer has a "documentation fee" of something like $80, but I won't pay that either. What we pay here is MSRP and not a penny more.

Or are these charges something else?

No, that's it Jim.  Staff that's already on payroll to do docs and there's still often a doc fee (never paid it anywhere).  Setup fee when the mftr already covers a charge for it.  It's all a bunch of crap that really needs a legislative control to eliminate.

:o  It sure does, Don!  That's really atrocious! The problem I guess is that people cough up. If everybody said no, these charges would soon disappear. Disgraceful charges!

Thanks Sadunbar, I "WILL" post the dealers name that gave me an honest price, it was Harley Davidson of Seattle located in Lynnwood WA, kudos to them for sure....

After listening to the message from the crooks again before deleting it, I didn't catch the first time the $500 dollar mark up they added to the MSRP either, they said MSRP on the bike was $36,999 not $36,499

Crooks = $36,999 plus $5,000 set-up plus WA tax of $3,780 for a grand total of $45,779

"Honest" Harley of Seattle = $36,499 plus $380 freight plus $500 set-up plus WA tax of $3,364 for a grand total of $40,743

For a difference of $5,036....

Wow.....
;-)) Well done. I am getting one too. In any case, what I see from your later posts that money isn't going to live in your bank account forever. This site will help you big time. It sure did for me.

Ride safely,
Louis

Just out of curiosity, I stopped by Treasure Coast HD in Stuart, Fl this morning to find out what the price was. $2K over MSRP ++++.
Base = $38599 + FRT $480 + Setup (PDI) $433 + FL State Fee $3.50 + Doc Fee $395 + another FL State fee $24 = $39,934.50 before TAXES! He did have one coming in that did not have a deposit on it.

There's a lot going on in all of these replies,
1. J&L HD Sioux Falls SD wants $40,000 for their Black 2010 SEUC

2. Blackhills HD wants MSRP + $9000 = about $45,000 for theirs

3. Upgrades, Put Reinhart True Deuls and a SERT on mine for performance and sound.

I can understand that dealers are trying to create excitment about new products and drive up bike prices but, all that is really happening IMHO is that people are getting taken advantage of by their dealer.  :nixweiss:

Sorry about the chrome thing Ed. LOL. I hear you on the paint. I love the bike in the MOCO's pics but have heard mixed from others who have seen it.  I really can't wait to see it in person.

Don't loose sleep over this.  It is what YOU want! I am sure you can think of several other things so spend money on and not get the smile you will when you get on her and take her off the lot for that initial ride.

In my years I have learned a few things, that I can remember. First, you don't have to be the first to have one. Second, if you wait that same product it will be available all over and at a reasonable price in time. Third, these same products will be all over ebay, chopper exchange, craigslist, for much less in 6 months or less.
The 999 expected production number is NOT that low for a CVO. 2000 FLTRSE triple red 685, 2004 FLHTSE orange 1293, 2005 FLHTCSE teal 693, 2007 FLHTCUSE2 blue 744. And you can find any of these for sale, low/low miles for very low prices. Don't pay that to any dealer, you won't be to happy in a couple months when you see one of us got the same for 5k less.

Well put

The Dealer Ed was talking about, East Side Harley, is WELL known for their very high extra charges. Sooner or later, some schmuck will pay their price, they always do.  I stop there sometimes, drink some coffee ~  but never spend any cash there, except to give the coffee gal a tip.

The new issue of American Iron has the new 2010 Crimson Mist/Dark slate on the cover. This is the FIRST picture that show the true color of the bike. I think it really looks better then any of the Harley ads. Complete B.S. about the up charge on these bikes.

It is a free market economy...so dealers can do whatever they think the market will bear...

Now that I've finished the economics 101 sermon, I say screw the dealer.  Spread the name to everyone you know.  There is plenty of gravy for the dealer selling at MSRP, seems like $3-4k per unit sold at least on a normal bike...

Either way, enjoy the ride and get some sleep!!!

They weren't much help when I was trying to organise our rental bikes for this coming summer, either!  Glad we're getting them from Sound Harley up the road, where the guy could not have been more pleasant and helpful!

There was another post on the site not long ago where another person indicated a dealer asking over $40k; not sure if it could be the same dealer or if there are a bunch of dealer's trying to make a killing on their dechromed CVO.  With only 999 planned, I seriously doubt anyone will find one for less than MSRP, but I also doubt that all dealer's will be as greedy as the one you mentioned.

What is the situation with your deposit, do you have a signed buyer's order with the dealership that guarantees you the right of first refusal, or are they just taking deposits with the idea of eventually selling to the highest bidder?  If you have something in writing giving you the right of first refusal, I'd leave the $500 on deposit but still call around to other places looking for a better price.  If you find one for significantly less somewhere else, it would be worth losing the deposit to cancel the original deal.  If you can't find a better price (highly unlikely if you make enough calls), you would still have the option of paying the original crook dealer if you really want the bike that badly.  Try dealers outside of the bigger markets.
