has any one done this?
« on: March 04, 2010, 04:33:30 PM »

I came across a set of new take off shocks shocks from a 2010 ultra classic, would these work on my serg3? I was told it would raise my bike 3/4 of a inch. I was going to try this before i went and bought a set of shocks.   tom

I haven't tried it, but I do know that the SERG3 is lower then even the standard Road Glide from '09.  My wife can touch fine on the SERG but no the regular Road Glide.  So it will ride at a different height, but it will work.  The standard Road Glide is the same hight as the standard ultra in '09.  In '20 they lowered the RG but left the Ultra at it's previous height.

It is true that the SERG3 is lowered front (21" spring) and rear (12" shocks).  A stock set of touring shocks is an inch longer than what your SERG3 should have.  Because of the mounting angle, the height difference is 9/16".  The SERG also has shorter front springs by an inch.  Because the rake of the forks is more upright, the height is about 7/8".  MOCO repeatedly says one should not lower the front without lowering the rear thought the reverse is permissible.

Learned this when I found out that the Factory Put The Wrong Rear Shocks On My '09 SERG !

And now you have the 12" shocks (like all SERGs) ?
@ Greg , which suspension  is the better one ?
 The 12" or the 13" ?
