Looks Like We're Moving
« on: January 27, 2006, 08:32:59 PM »

Well...

It appears We're going to have to move out of Boston as I'm thiscloseto signing with a KC radio station.

I need help...why else would I be posting :)

I'm going to have to go ahead of my wife, and there's no way I'm going to leave the bike behind when I'm rolling to a place where you can ride almost all year.

My question is:

Has anyone moved their scoot using one of those U-Haul covered trailer thingies?  Do they have loops inside that I can hook tie-downs to?

If not, anyone suggest an alternate plan?

I mean I could load it into the Hemi truck bed (thew whole reason I bought the truck to begin with) but I don't want to have to leave it out overnight if we have to stop at a hotel. Not that I don't trust anyone...but I don't trust ANYONE!!!!

Thoughts, Ideas? HAAAAAALP!!!

PS..if anyone knows of a radio job in Boston I could have...none of this would be necessary.

Carry it in the truck, find a motel that you can park right in front of the room, sleep w/ one eye open and be prepared to defend it should some fool(s) try and take it.  >:( JMHO.  Har!  spyder

Boston to KC is like 1400 miles.  Carry it in the truck, get an early start, and just drive it straight through.  Then you don't have to worry about what happens at the hotel at night.

I had a friend move from Va. to N.C. and he transported his bike in a enclosed U-Haul truck. He found someway to secure it to side of truck w/o doing any damage to bike. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] I'm not sure I would have the nerve to do that however. I think your best bet is to do what Twolane mentioned start early in the morning and drive straight thru if you feel uncomfortable leaving it in the truck bed overnight. Another alternative is to get a hotel/motel with room on ground floor (door that leads to parking lot) and take bike off truck and take it in room with you at night.

1400 miles straight thru?  You mean sleeping in the truck at rest areas, I assume.  Last time I drove 1400 miles straight thru, I was seein' big green horses running across my hood!  'Course I was eatin' Black Beauties, and hadn't been asleep for 3 days!  :D Like I said, Just lucky, man!  ;) Later--HUBBARD

I'm downstate in Joplin.  Just over a couple of hours away.  Come spring we'll all have to pick a weekend and go riding.

I have the big dog, the shotgun, AND a chock. The dog's staying to protect the wife while I go ahead. The gun will probably come with me, and the chock will secure the front wheel either way.

:)

Yeah, 'er 'uh, neanderpaul,
Not tellin' you how to run your business, but I'd leave the gun with the little woman, and take the dog with me.  Dog is MAN'S best friend, unless of course that was your dog in the best photo section! [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]Later--HUBBARD
