I appreciate all the input from everyone. It was a dream at best but over the last few days we have figured out that with some of the things we need to take with us we would not be able to haul it on the bikes. That plus I could take the extra time needed to get there (3.5 days down and 3.5 days back) but with needing a  full week to accomplish the work we have to do, the time to get there and back just doesn't work for my partner like it does me.
Anyway, thanks for all the input, I knew opinions would be shared and I appreciate them.

Another thought is the fuel quality.Don't think I'd trust my CVO to the gas available south of the border.

Ok, where there's a will there's a way!    Thinking we may ride from N Idaho to LA and leave the bikes in LA while we are gone then ride back home from LA after the week of work in Mexico! 

here is a little slideshow I put together showing where we'd be for a week in Manzanillo, Mexico. After watching you'll see why I am more than willing to go back and work for week. I love my job, a cell phone and a laptop and I can work from anywhere! As I said earlier in this post I have been doing vacation at this same place for the last 5 years...

Thanks for sharing, I really miss going to Mexico. We used to do weekend trips through TJ, Puerto Nuevo, Encinada, and Tecate but no more.   Doc

The wife and I went south at Laredo in November last year.  We were with a small group (9 bikes, 1 trike and one car).  The car had more troubles at the checkpoints than we did.  They ALWAYS waved us through and ALWAYS stopped the car.  The only time things went any further than waving the car through the pull off area, the driver got out, opened the back of the Expedition, showed the guard the luggage, and pointed to us.  The rear was quickly closed and they were told to get out of the stopping area.  There were 2 CVO Ultra's, mine and the wife's.  We went as far south as San Juan de Los Lagos.  The border towns are the worst, but if you find the right border town, you may be okay.  Things have escalated since November, so I wouldn't make the trip we did now.  But we were with Mexican Nationals who knew what to expect and what to do.  I wouldn't have gone on my own.  We didn't have a problem anyplace, but the leadeer knew where to go, where to stay and how to keep us all safe.  As previously noted, you can get into problems in Boise if you get into the right area.  Good luck with whatever your ultimate decision is.

Better safe than sorry at this point in time as far as Mexico, there is no predicting where the AK rounds may be directed. Hate to see your ride come back in a box, or you. IMHO not worth the risk to you or your family under the current crazy chit down there.
