New guy
« on: February 02, 2006, 09:57:57 AM »

:) new guy here from NJ

I don't have a SE but do have a 2002flht, It was the most I could spend in 02, I love the look on the SEEG, orange and black.

I would love to give my standard the ride hight and look of the SEEG.

Is the SEEG lowered and if so how much?
How do they ride?

Thanks Tom

Tom, welcome to the site.  You don't have to own a CVO to be a member here.  CVOs are our commonality and if you just like them you can be a member here.

Yes, the SEEGs ride a bit more firm (or is that rougher?) than other Electra Glides due to the shorter travel on the rear shocks and the front end.

Cruise around this site and you'll get a lot of information that will benefit you and your standard, too. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Tom,

The SEEG and SEEG2 have the H-D Profile lowered rear suspension from the Accessories catalog, which lowers the bike approximately one inch.

Tom,
Welcome,  If you hang around here long enough,  you'll find that a lot of these guys know more about bikes than the local stealer (I mean dealer).  Not sure if any one guy knows all,  but the collective minds here have thousands of years experience with these bikes (all kinds, not just CVO's).
IMHO,  the lowered air ride shocks are the way to go if your looking to lower your bike.  I've seen complaints on this site about the PS 440's topping out and clunking when on rough roads....can't really speak for them,  but this is what I 've heard.
Good luck with the project, and by the way,,,,,I'm 6' 2" with long legs,  and I like my bike lowered.  Like the look,  like the extra push while backing up.......don't even mind the stiffer ride.....
Go for it....

Tom,
Welcome to the site! I'm 5'6" and 170lbs. and I've only found the SEEG to be a problem for me with backing it because of the short span of movement allowed with the passenger boards being in the way. Ya the ride is stiffer, but feels so goooooood.
IMHO [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Tom, Welcome to the site!

I'm 5'7", 190# and also like to surefooted feel when walking the bike to park.  Love the look of the lowered stance even though I scrape the floorboards on the SEEG almost every time I ride.  [smiley=oops.gif] Oh, well I'll blame that on riding the rice rockets in my prior to H-D riding days.

Have fun and be ready to open your wallet 'cause the $$ just seems to flow out of it after being on this great site.

We're glad you've found us. One bad thing about this site is the CVO OCD virus you'll catch.

got a buddy who's standard is anything but

dollar for dollar it's the best place to start. Make it yours, plain Jane or full blown race, show, whatever. What suits you is what makes sittin on Main Street or Wiers Beach or (is it Main St in Sturgis - - - never bothered to look) anyway that's what makes looking at other peoples rides fun

welcome aboard
