I wouldn't let it sit at the dealer one minute longer than it has to.  Way too many people are just not good at looking.  They have to put their paws all over things.  When I bought mine, I had them move it off the floor into their private bike delivery room before I would go to the office to start the paperwork.  Sure enough, while I was in the credit office, another salesman came to find me and ask me if this couple that came in could go look at my bike and sit on it.  I told him that as long as they didn't mind waiting until I was done, they could watch me ride away on it, and they did wait.

I have to agree.  Unless they rope it off, keep it in the back room.

So far none have hit the ground here.  I now have a deposit on a black/orange one and a green one.  I was set on the orange until I spoke with SEVERAL dealers that were at the show and saw it in person and said the orange was very pale and almost looked peach.  They ALL said the green was unbelievable!!!  One even said that he could guarantee me that in a court of law in front of 100 people NO ONE could say, "Your honor I did not see him coming".  That was the best line ever....  The orange one will be here in a few days and the green one beginning of September.  We will see...

Going to look at one at a near local dealer today. RG Charcoal Slate/Black. I'll take some pics if it's out of the box. Wasn't out yet yesterday.

Sure wish I could find a Silver 09 New for $28,000. Tried to buy one a few months ago from a dealer in NY that was used (but less than 2000 miles) and they wanted almost MSRP for it.

I'll have to admit I got lucky and I have a good friend who's been sourcing bikes and working deals for years who helped me.  The idea is you source the bike within a distance you're willing to travel and ride home from.  The longer that distance the better your chances.  Then you negotiate over the phone like it's a used car.  Make sure they know you can make the deal with no money issues.  I offered to walk in with a cashier's check in hand.  Soon a seller will break down and take your low offer.  In many southern states the dealers have trouble selling these bikes.  Often they'll dump them to dealers elsewhere.

I think the bikes are a good value compared to the stock bikes and I don't know that I'll ever buy a new stock bike again.  But, Harley is a shrinking company so it just doesn't set right with me to pay at or above MSRP.  They aren't really limited editions you know.  They watch sales and make as many as they think they can sell without making it seem like they're easy to get.

I believe this 1000%. If they could sell 5000 of each bike at MSRP then they would produce them.

interesting to know how much of these bikes (how many parts) are actually mfg in the US -- I own a business, so I'm willing to pay MSRP and allow the MoCo to make their profit, but not a cent more!  If we (the buying public in the US) knew these bikes were actually made here (not just assembled), thus keeping Americans at work and contributing to the US economy, I like to think we would be less critical.

True, but too many of us have a "me-first" mindset.  They don't give a damn about anyone but themselves let alone care about whether or not something is made here...
