I am so happy to hear of other women who have enough sense to look for the bikes that appear to have what they want in a ride.  An Ultra! Wow!  I so wish I could even think about a bike like that.  I am very happy to settle for the Electra Glide, but it seems to me that she has figured out that she wants to share your passion of riding, but from the comfort of the front seat, and if she is looking all the way to the top of the HD line, then she wants all the bells and whistles.  Heck, she should truly be looking at the SEUC, don't you think?  I mean, heated seat and grips too?  Who could want more than that.  I don't know about the being babied thing.  Let her learn how to ride, but then turn her loose on whatever she wants. It sounds like she know what that is already. If her legs are long enough to pull the ultra up, then she can ride it.  I think this is just toooooo cooooool!  Congratulations.  :D

My advice... let her lead all the time. I don't know how many time I almost rear ended a buddy when I was looking in the mirror to see if she was still back there. Also, if she wants a bagger, buy her a standard or a used cop bike. They're cheap and plentiful and the extra weight of the tour pack can be difficult to get used to.

fatboyse2,

Congratulations!  I've tried many times to get my better half to learn to ride and then get her own bike.  So far, her response has always been "what did you do, increase my life insurance coverage?"

Fatboyse2,

Congrats on the new riding partner.  I thinks it's awesome that your "boss" wants to jump in and join in on the fun.  My wife won't even ride with me.  She says she doesn't want to have the chance of orphaning our 5 and 7 year old sons all at the same time.  They ride with me around the neighborhood but not her.  At least she doesn't mind me riding.  She says " just make sure you have enough life insurance!"

Ride safe and enjoy!

That Mann picture is actually kinda funny.  There was a time when fenders and chrome were only places to tie stuff off to when maybe you didn't plan on being home for few weeks or months or whatever.  Painted spots worn smooth or through just meant you'd found a good spot to tie to and a bag that fit well.  Never gave it a second thought.  Now we worry if windshield bags might rub a bit on the inner fairing and we add XM and GPS units to the bikes.  The times they have-a-changed....

Fatboyse2, I totally agree with FiredOOd, start small, take the riders edge class and watch her grow with excitement and confidence.  This is how my wife started and she now ownes her own 06 Street Glide and doesn't like it when I correct her about riding.  She was taught the right way to ride, I learned from experience and time.  Remember, Happy Wife=Happy Life !!!
