Hotels near South Rim of Grand Canyon
« on: April 19, 2010, 10:12:02 PM »

Anyone have any suggestions for a nice place that is bike friendly without spending a fortune?  Wife wants something clean and comfy and of course, I wanna make sure the bikes are good and safe. :)

Would recommend the Best Western.  Stayed there in Sept.'09 and it was great.  Over $100 a night, but worth every penny.  You'll both like it.

For an unbeatable experience stay inside the park, not outside. Xanterra manages all lodging, has a great website and easy online booking. Start here: https://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/lodging-overview-411.html

Ride safely,

For something more affordable, you may want to look in Williams, Ariz.  Interesting little town.....Route 66 runs through it also. :2vrolijk_21:

And a fairly good size hotel right across the street from the train station.  The train is one from the old days (50's) that runs a couple trips a day.  They have an old west shoot out there between the hotel and train station.

By the way Chuck, be sure to visit Grand Canyon Harley Davidson in Bellmont.  Just a short ride up the Hwy. from Williams.  A nice dealership with a pretty awsome dinner across the parking lot from the dealership......it's cars and motorcycles all the way, inside and out.  And the dinning experience itself is great.....you pick your steak from the menu and they give it to you.......the grill is on your side of the counter and you cook it the way you like with all the condiments, spices, etc. there by the grill. :2vrolijk_21:

Here's a link to our pics of the dealership and the grill.....  http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=40384.msg622186#msg622186

Williams is a great little western town on historic route 66. Gateway to the Grand Canyon.  which is about  60 miles to the north on a 2 lane road. The train is quaint but real slooooow.
The Az state hog rally will be back to Williams mid-June.  Inside the park there are accommodations away from the rim that are clean and affordable.  Check Xanterra website
