Nice set up, we are allowed 400 square feet in Alabama without a permit, so I intend to do a 20 X 20 this summer.

The garage ties are for transport of the Garage. You can remove the 2x4's that  are lowering  your ceiling height with no structural issues as long as you knock the snow off when you get over a foot.

Interesting....if the headroom becomes an issue, I'll have to do that.  Thanks! :apple:
