You guys are too funny...

Yes, the fairing is detachable...

For those of you that would like to see additional pictures / details on the fairing I'm going to start a separate thread on that in a bit... I'll post the link on this one for reference...
Deaf1 -- you bring up a very good question about why I didn't go with the Ultra or SG. Truth of the matter is that when I bought this bike I was not a Harley person -- not that I didn't like them, I had just never owned one, and I certainly hadn't owned a touring bike to that point. As I mentioned, I rode this bike for the first time during a demo days event at one of the local dealers. The first thing that happened was that I fell in love with the color and then I fell in love with the ride. Before I even got back from the demo I knew I was going to try and buy one - had no idea what they cost at that time.

Anyway, since I bought the bike I've ridden pretty much every Harley model made over the last 3 years and even though there are some smooth rides out there and some beautiful ones as well, I just haven't found anything that made me want to give this bike up (not to mention the fact that the trade would eat my lunch as far as cost). So, what I've done is, over time, incorporated things into it that I've seen and liked. I worry at times that I've gone too far and made it gawdy but everything on it has a purpose -- whether it's cosmetic (color matched hard-bags & tour-pak) or functional (bsr grab rails and saddlebag guards because my 9 year old daughter rides with me).
At the end of the day, it provides exactly what I need... a bike that I love to ride, that I love to look at even when it's sitting still and a bike I love to show off.

Ride on...
