Many people on this site say talk to your mechanic first and see what he is comfortable with especially if you plan to dyno tune it after the break-in period.

Had the Thundermax on my 07 and the PC V on my 09 (Thundermax wasn't out).  Either is good.  Both allow for a failsafe, if the PC V fails, take ten minutes and unplug it and the HD ECM will get you home.  Same with the Thundermax, if it fails, replace it with the HD ECM (I carried it at all times although I never needed it).

Haven't used the new 09/10 Thundermax, but I suspect it is very similar to the 07.  Both are fairly easy to use.  THe install is easy except replaceing the WB sensors which if you spend 25 bucks you can get the right tool and then it is very easy.

Don't know the price comparison but the functionality would be similar.

I agree, if you have a tuner that is going to Dyno the bike, let the tuner influence the decision.

I am on my forth power commander.  All have worked great with not a single problem.  Better than sert in my opinion.

I installed a TMAX w/ autotune on my 2010 CVO FLSTSE in March. So far have about 500 miles on it and am very pleased with the performance and cooling impact after dropping the stock AFRs. I also removed the stock mufflers w/cats, and replaced them with the 09 Screaming Eagle pipes. Better sound and no cats.

Have had both on my 07 SERK, I like the TMAX with Auto tune much better than the power Commander, With the TMAX you do not have to have it Dyno tuned unless you just want to know what kind of HP & TQ you have, Another plus with the TMAX you can change anything on the motor and do not have spend anymore  $$$ on Dyno time.

The new PC V with autotune doesn't require a dyno.  It is very much like the Thundermax in that regard.

Does the TMax have any suggestions on ignition advance/retard ? This is a weak area with the PCV as it will be guess work unless you can get a
proven map/ignition table to start with. The PCV does not seem to keep any sort of a log (which I think it could if implemented in a future firmware release) on pre-ignition. We need to know how far we can push the advance at a given TP/AFR/RPM.

I've had very good luck with Zippers performance support for TMAX. Give them a call on the ignition tuning.

If you get a PC, be sure that you get the latest addition for the 110 as the earlier standard ones do not have the automatic compression release control.

Thundermax replaces the ECU, Power Comander is added on to the ECU, and TTS tunes the ECU.  I have used all three and like the TTS the best.
