SMB and FAKRA are just the plug type on the radio and antenna.  Since they are different you need the "adapter" to connect the new antenna to your radio.
We have this adapter custom manufactured to be compatible with any SIRIUS or XM tuner that has a standard FAKRA connector. The cable is 6 inches long and works perfectly when you want to connect a standard magnetic antenna, marine antenna, or an extension. Since the connectors are straight, it doesn't matter if the FAKRA connector petrudes out or is recessed into the tuner box. Also converts a FAKRA antenna to a tuner that has a standard SMB (non-FAKRA) connector.

Package Contents:

(1) 6 inch SMB-Jack to SMB-Plug adapter cable

Thanks, I'm just waiting on the adapter to come in.  Already received the xm motorcycle antenna and see you are talking about with the SMB to FAKRA connection.  Just wish I could contribute as much as I learn from this site.

Has anyone had any luck with any othe internal antennas, or is this the only option? I would prefer to keep it within the fairing but the xm radio reception is quite awful. If I can't get a better setup for the antenna in the fairing I will likely drop my subscription.

I have an internal antenna also and reception sticks if I'm in a line of trees.  Does anyone know if XM reception will improve if I go with a short external antenna on my tour pack??

Has anyone tried to mount this inside a Road Glide fairing ?  :nixweiss:

What are the dimensions of the antenna ?

The RG has lots of room and it could be easily mounted inside the fairing.

Adapter arrived and I installed the new antenna today.  The handlebar mount was so ugly, with that screw to clamp it, so I used the sticky mount on top of the clutch fluid reservoir.  It really doesn't look too bad there and I get THREE bar reception in my garage now.  I'm glad I bought it now. :cucumber:

I knew someone would ask! I rarely mount my Garmin when riding locally. Locally I ride in the New York City / Long Island area and I don't want to be distracted by the GPS while dealing with the cagers that are out to kill us. GPS's are also a hot item for the steal anything druggies, so I avoid tempting them.  But I am addicted to XM/Sirius radio, so when not touring with the Garmin mounted, I have the  HD HK radio to listen to.

I ran the wire through the ferrule where the clutch cable goes through the fairing.   Yes, I'll post a pic later.
