Pacific Coast Highway...
« on: May 29, 2010, 09:38:11 PM »

Had some work in Del Mar the past few days... Rode down the fast lane (I-5) and taking the more scenic road back home...  if anyone else is around let me know.

We are in Cambria tonight and tomorrow night. Met up with Greg Koughaz and some friends of his. Rode over Naciememto, north to Big Sur, and back south to Cambria today.

I was hoping to stop in Cambria tonight actually... If I get that far I'll shoot you a note.

I can't tell for sure where you are headed east, looks like maybe Hwy 128. That's a great road but if you have the time, don't sell yourself short and take Hwy 1 to its northern terminus at Hwy 101 in Leggett. If you haven't done it (even if you have), the section above Ft. Bragg to Leggett is one of the best roller coaster roads in California.

When are you going to be in the Marin/Sonoma area?

Ended up stopping in Solvang for the night...  could not find a hotel in Cambria. In fact, was VERY fortunate to find a room in Solvang. Pretty cool Danish town and I can see I'm going to need to bring my wife here... the trafic up PCH was not a lot of fun. Especially from Venice up through Malibu but still a nice day of riding... Here's the route if u ar interested...  will follow with a few photos. The first is a breakfast place called Pipes' Cafe. If you are EVER near there make it a point to stop in... great food and great vibe.

Hey Chuck.....Van (vanamal) is from Solvang.  I just called him and gave him your number.....said he's gonna give you a call.

Terrie and I, Jon & Susan are up here near Mt. Lassen for the holiday.  Had a great ride yesterday and today and already put on more than 500 miles.  Will post pics when I get home.

Anyway, you're in for a great ride and Solvang is a very interesting town.  Van did much of the Danish construction on those buildings there in town.  Oh, be sure and visit the motor cycle museum tomorrow before you leave town. :2vrolijk_21:
