Any news?

I'm desperately trying to hold off planet of the apes myself  :2vrolijk_21:

What are your plans with mirrors?  I see you have the PM's - will these stay or will they go? :nixweiss:

All parts are in with the exception of the custom 8" over clutch and brake lines. Expecting them any day now.
Went with the apes because I plan to keep the PM mirrors... one constraint I put on changing bars was to keep the fairing mounted mirrors.

I anxiously await this, as the reach down to the stock bars makes me sore on the longer rides..

Myko, what is your estimated budget for the apes?  I've priced the PYO bars with supersize kit and came to just shy of $600 - delivered to the UK plus taxes equals £600-$900.  Would be nice to find a more reasonable alternative.

Cheers

I've burchased the WO577 bars and I'm waiting on a +6 brake line.  The clutch line is readily available, nothing special about it that I know.

I've been emailing Barnett and Goodridge to try and findout when they will have the brake line available - Goodridge has said they don't make the line and did not provide an estimate as to when it will be available.

The brake line on the 2010 FLHXSE is a new part number (46673-10) so that makes me believe that something has changed from '09 to '10.  This will probably delay the production of a longer brake line.

Thanks

OK, my bars are on, BUT I would gladly pay someone $1000 to do this installation.  This is not for the faint of heart.
It took me about 3 hours to disassemble, 2 hours to thread the wires through the bars and 5 hours to reassemble.

beware that the 12.5" WO577 bars will require lengthening 2 wires from the twist grip sensor.  I am not sure what they are for, but they are 6" shorter then the rest and they are terminated or plugged so nothing to hook up to unless they are for diagnostics..

The ABS brake line is a modular line, 0 degree banjo at the ABS box, 35 degree banjo at the master cylinder, 73" long (same length as the clutch line)

The only thing left to do is to bleed the brakes and I am taking it to the dealer for that to be done.  Also the clutch bleeder is a 5mm pain in the ***..

Would love to hear how it rides... Lines for mine should be in Weds, but I'll be on a 5 day trip... start this job when I return, have figured it would be two days... stealer did quote just under $900 for labor!

The two short lines are for heated grips..

Lookin' sweet!

I just put 1" monkey bars  on my SERK and it was VERY time consuming. I bought the extended wires and they pulled apart in the bars. They were to thick where they all connected. I staggered cut, solder and heat shrink  all the wires after that. The actual pulling of the wires throug the bars only took about 1 min per side. A little electricians lube is the trick. I think I had my V-rod completely taken apart and put back together again after it was all painted, frame and all in less time.

No I'm not kidding........................ :drink:

Can we see some pics of the monkey bars? I'm in two minds on pulling the trigger on some monkey's myself.  Cheers

I will try to get some pics, I just finished it up. I went with the monkey bars because they are different than the Wild 1's and have more of an aggressive look to them. I'm waiting on my sinister industries stretched ABS bags now.

I've had 14" Chubby's on my last two SEUCs. I formerly used Goodrige/Barnett cables but switched to Magnum the last two cable sets. I've found Magnum cables look better, the customer service is superior, and the time from order to delivery is 7-10 days versus up to 4 weeks from Barnett. I'm very picky about the look of my cables.

Today I ordered 14" Wild 1 Chubbys for my new 2011 SESG and Magnum cables, both upper & lower. The mirrors get in the way of the bars so you need to replace those. I'm using Paul Yafffe black inserts.

Apes are on, pics will be coming before Weds... need to prepare for a trip.
Fairing mirrors will not remain as my elbows block too much.. so I now have some of the PM's in black up for grabs as soon as I get the bagga chips in place.
Completed work on my trunk while at it (rear spoiler light, interior light, antenna relocation)..
Currently testing and may go back in to adjust the bars a slight bit forward... tested with trunk today after moving it back 3/4 inch... will test tomorrow without trunk and determine final outcome.

Heat demons would not work... we measured and talked with Wild1's and despite what was earlier said, too much material would need to be taken out, they and the custom shop I asked for help getting them in recommended against taking out that much material to make the .875ID. We would have needed to take out .055, while W1 said they knew folks that had put them in, they were more cautious when confronted with the numbers.

HD heated grips failed the test as well... while possible to get them in, the failure rate and the fact that I would have put them in would have made replacement under warranty a PITA and would have required fabrication work to the right hand side of the bars ... glad I kept the heated gloves!
